BACK TO SCHOOL: OBSCENITY MASQUERADING AS 'HEALTH'
Exclusive: Linda Harvey spotlights Catholic campus teaching about genital size
Let’s be frank about school sex education. Many classes have become unapologetically pornographic, yet many parents are unaware their kids learn dangerous messages laced with obscenity in the guise of “health education.”
The good news is that some parents are aware. A growing parent-led movement in many districts will opt children out of these gross, inaccurate tutorials, or remove kids from public schools altogether.
Schools in Omaha, St. Louis, Nashville and Honolulu are battlegrounds of huge controversies over X-rated lessons. I’ll give some details, but (warning) this could get graphic. How can any educator tell families with a straight face that such garbage is helpful?
Consider yourself blessed if your school supports authentic “sexual risk avoidance” abstinence education. Ascend is the principal group networking educators trained for this effort, and it does an excellent job advocating for federal funds to advance family-friendly curricula.
But sadly, far more funds under Obama are allocated to abortion/contraception/homosexuality-promoting programs, called “comprehensive sex education” or “sexual risk reduction.” These programs smash youth innocence and discretion. Many ask young adolescents to handle condoms by fitting them on artificial penises or bananas as early as the seventh grade.
Some of these courses, bowing to the depraved demands of “LGBTQ” advocates, teach role-playing scenarios where same-sex teens discuss whether it’s time to have sex. And that means oral sex with a dental dam for two girls, or anal sex with lubricant and a condom for two boys.
And our impressionable children learn these are “safe” and “normal” sexual activities.
If you are not already fuming or throwing up, read on. Some faith communities are now part of the problem, in a big way. The Catholic Diocese of Nashville supports an obscene and explicit curriculum being required of all students at a Catholic, not a public school.
At Nashville’s Father Ryan High School, the “Theology 1, Human Sexuality Supplement” includes a legs-spread diagram of the female anatomy and details about how female arousal occurs. Same with male anatomy, with measurements given about average penis size when erect. And the student exam for this course is a “fill-in-the-blank” quiz to make sure young minds memorize these adult revelations.
This “theology” lesson also includes information about contraceptives with accurate failure rates, but its brief statement about chastity doesn’t excuse the other unnecessary, prurient details.
And Father Ryan High School, backed by the bishop, maintains that parents cannot opt their children out of this class. That’s not true legally, nor morally – parents have the legal right to opt their children out of virtually any class, and certainly the obligation to do so when erroneous, harmful content is presented.
In Omaha, it’s a thankfully different story, as the archdiocese has issued strong warnings to parents about the obscene content of the Omaha Public Schools’ controversial sex education curriculum. In fact, Omaha’s Roman Catholic leaders are urging parents to opt their children out of such lessons. They even posted a page on the archdiocese website with excerpts from the Omaha school lessons, such as the following:
“When do you think someone is ready for sex – either oral, vaginal or anal – with their partner?” Sexual Decision Making, A Lesson Plan from Rights, Respect, Responsibility: A K-12 Sexuality Education Curriculum, Grade 10, page 1, Sexual Readiness Handout. Using Condoms Effectively, A Lesson Plan from Rights, Respect, Responsibility: A K-12 Sexuality Education Curriculum, Grade 8, page 3.“Andie and Diana are two girls who just met last weekend at a party. They had fun together, and now they’ve hooked up again this weekend. They’re alone in Andie’s basement. Plan a role-play in which Diana asks Andie about having sex and they make a decision.” Sexual Decision Making, A Lesson Plan from Rights, Respect, Responsibility: A K-12 Sexuality Education Curriculum, Grade 10, page 6.
These lessons are also packed with support for gender confusion, such as:
“… it is important to remember that someone can have a penis even if they don’t identify as a boy or a vulva even if they don’t identify as a girl.” Reproduction Basics, A Lesson Plan from Rights, Respect, Responsibility: A K-12 Sexuality Education Curriculum, Grade 7, page 1.
The Omaha Public Schools conducted a sex-ed “camp” for students last year, euphemistically touting “teen empowerment,” and parents said it featured a relay race including condoms and sex toys. A “goodie bag” given to students included condoms, lubricant and a dental dam for oral sex.
The group Save Nebraska Children has instructions for opting out on its website.
At Parkway School District in St. Louis, a huge fight has been underway for similar obscenity masquerading as “health.” Mass Resistance has been involved in this fight, and here’s what they say about the agenda there and throughout the country:
“Local school boards are covertly working with LGBT groups and Planned Parenthood to impose a new, more radical and graphic ‘comprehensive sexuality’ curriculum in grades K-12. Much of it is laced with homosexual/transgender ideology. This is almost always followed up by a ‘transgender bathroom’ policy being imposed on the school system.”
The sex-education lessons at Parkway use Planned Parenthood, GLSEN and SIECUS as resources – groups that openly support abortion, gender confusion, homosexual behavior and encourage adolescent sexual activity. Parents have even picketed the homes of unresponsive school board members. Parents have also developed plans to opt students out.
In Hawaii, a controversial program called “Pono Choices” has been underway for several years despite parental resistance. Republican lawmaker Bob McDermott called attention to the obscene and medically inaccurate reference to the anus as a part of human genitalia. A goal of the homosexual movement seems to be for children to become desensitized to vile and unnatural acts at an early age.
For parents who want to opt out of such programs, Expose Sex Ed Now has detailed guidance.
Let’s have a heart, people. This evil agenda starts a lifetime of social, medical, moral and spiritual confusion for children.
They deserve so much better.
