Rockets Fired from Sinai Land in Israel

Click here to watch: ISIS in Sinai Claims Rocket Attack on Israel The Islamic State (ISIS) jihadist group's affiliate in Egypt claimed responsibility for a rocket attack from the Sinai Peninsula into southern Israel on Friday, AFP reports. "Three Grad rockets were fired at Jewish positions in occupied Palestine," the group, now known as Sinai Province and previously called Ansar Bayt Al-Maqdis, said in a statement on Twitter.  Residents of the Gaza Belt were forced into rocket shelters after sirens sounded at approximately 4:20 p.m. local time on Friday afternoon. The rockets exploded in open fields. No damage or injuries were reported. The Sinai Province’s claim of responsibility came despite earlier denials by Egyptian military and security officials, who spoke to The Associated Press (AP), that rockets were fired from the Sinai towards Israel. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media. Watch Here Sinai Province, a group affiliated with ISIS formerly known as Ansar Bayt Al-Maqdis, has claimed responsibility for most of the terrorist attacks in the Sinai over the last few years. Among the attacks claimed by the group since Morsi's ouster was the assassination of a top Egyptian police general, who was gunned down as he left his home in a west Cairo neighborhood, and a bus bombing on a tour bus filled with South Korean tourists in the Sinai.  This week, the group carried out a multi-pronged jihadist attack against the Egyptian military in the Sinai that left up to 50 Egyptian soldiers dead.
