Program gives meals to thousands from Middle East

His mother was once America’s most famous atheist. He grew up a Marxist and an unbeliever, a product of his dysfunctional family. But as an adult, William J. Murray, son of Madalyn Murray O’Hair, found God, and today the former atheist spends his Christmases helping feed Christian refugee children in the Middle East.

It’s part of the Christmas for Refugees program, which Murray directs.

Established in 2013, Christmas for Refugees attempts to make the holiday season a little brighter for thousands of Christian children and their families who fled radical Islamic groups in Iraq and Syria and now live in U.N. refugee camps mostly in Jordan and Lebanon.

At Christmas for Refugees events, children enjoy games, puppet shows, Christmas songs and hot Christmas meals. The events are held in warm, dry buildings, giving the children one day of relief from the cold, wet tents or basements in which they live. Each child is given a large box containing a week’s worth of food to take back to his or her family.

When the program began, events were held in Jordan only. In 2014, the program expanded to Lebanon, and this year it expanded to Iraq. According to Murray, 11 events will be held this year in Lebanon, six in Jordan, and two in Iraq.

The program relies on local Christian volunteers to carry out the events, but Murray and his American team travel to the Middle East every year to supervise some of the events. So far this year, Murray has participated in two events in Lebanon and two in Jordan, and he plans to attend both of the Iraqi events as well. In all, he will spend two weeks of the 2015 Christmas season in Lebanon, Jordan, and Iraq.

Murray, chairman of the D.C.-based Religious Freedom Coalition, said he willingly gives his time to this cause because Christians are the most persecuted group in the world today, especially in the Middle East. As the Christmas for Refugees website states, Islamic-run charities in Jordan and Lebanon mostly ignore Christian refugees, preferring to help Muslim refugees.

Considering where Murray came from, it’s amazing he is leading a humanitarian effort on behalf of Christian children today.

“Sadly, I was raised in a Marxist home by a mother who had as much hatred for Christianity as does the leader of the Islamic State today,” Murray told WND in an interview. “Just as the liberals of this day, she preached that Christianity is at the root of all evil and all wars, and that its elimination would bring about peace and the end to capitalism.”

Murray’s mother was the founder of American Atheists. In 1960, she filed a lawsuit alleging that it was unconstitutional for the Baltimore City Public School System to force William to participate in Bible readings at school. The lawsuit eventually reached the Supreme Court, where the court voted to prohibit Bible reading in America’s public schools.

Murray grew up influenced by his mother’s beliefs, as he detailed in his autobiography “My Life Without God.” However, in 1980 he became a Christian and set out to fight for the rights of Christians in America and persecuted Christians around the world.

In the early 1980s he was the director of Freedom’s Friends, an organization that reached out to victims of communism all over the world. In the 1990s he founded the first commercial Bible publishing company in the Soviet Union. For many years his organizations ran evangelistic tours to that country.

Now he risks his safety by holding dinner events for Christian refugee children in the Middle East. Murray admitted there are dangers in holding Christmas for Refugees events, especially in Iraq, which is now partially controlled by ISIS. However, he takes the necessary precautions.

“In Iraq the closest event to the front line with the Islamic State is about 30 miles away; however, the Kurdish Peshmerga and the Christian militia have a solid front to the West of Erbil,” Murray explained.

“There is always some danger in bringing together a large number of Christians for any event, even a church service, in many areas. As a result, no media information is available prior to events.”

Despite the risks, Murray reaps great personal rewards from knowing he is helping to bring Christmas cheer to thousands of Christian children who would otherwise have none. He said the most rewarding aspect of Christmas for Refugees is the moment the children forget the horrid situation their families are in.

He finds it touching when he sees the children involved in genuine play, seemingly a world away from the problems their families face. He was also touched by one girl in Lebanon earlier this year.

“At one event in Lebanon a very young girl, perhaps five years old, began to cry when she realized the event was over and she would have to board the bus back to the refugee area her family lived in,” Murray relayed.

Murray said Christmas for Refugees is about encouraging and strengthening the faith of Christian families, and as such is not part of the war against ISIS. However, he noted the United States and its Sunni allies have ironically helped create the very problem he is trying to solve.

“We cannot forget that the Syrian Sunni-led revolt against the secular government of Syria was initially financed by Saudi Arabia and supported by the United States,” Murray said. “Without Saudi (Sunni) money to finance the horror of the Sunni revolt, there would be no Christian refugees.”

He noted several major terrorist attacks, from 9/11 to the 2005 London bus bombings to the recent Paris attacks, were carried out by Sunni Muslims.

“Meanwhile, we have a Democrat president and Republican presidential candidates running around saying that we ‘must support our Sunni allies’ against the Shia,” Murray lamented. “The reality is that our Sunni allies, including Saudi Arabia, have financed every Sunni terror group at one point or another, including al-Qaida, al-Nusra and the forerunner of the Islamic State.”

According to the Christmas for Refugees website, there are tens of thousands of Christian families with children whom Islamic terror groups have forced to flee their homes. Murray recognizes no single organization can help them all, so he and his team must select only a few to benefit from their Christmas for Refugees events.

He said they generally choose children between ages six and 12 whose families currently receive no aid from a church but have registered with a church for aid and are on a waiting list.

This year, about 4,000 refugee children will benefit from the program – twice as many as last year. Murray said fundraising for the program was a success this year, and he hopes to grow the program even more next Christmas.

“If the funds were available, the list of children would be in the tens of thousands,” Murray declared. “The program size doubled in 2015 and we hope to double it to 8,000 children in 2016. For that to happen, we need to raise funds all year long and pray for success.”

POLICE DISRUPT TERROR PLOT BY MUSLIM BIKER GANG

'Gangster jihadism a growing threat' in European cities

Police arrested several members of a Muslim biker gang in Belgium who they say planned to strike terror in the heart of Brussels during New Year’s celebrations.

The men are members of a Muslim biker gang called the Kamikaze Riders and are suspected to have discussed attacking Brussels’ Grand Place square and other crowded sites as well as police and military facilities, a senior Belgian counter-terrorism official told CNN on condition of anonymity.

The plot appears to have been “inspired but not directed,” by the Islamic State, also called ISIS, the counter-terrorism official said.

This is the exact terminology – “inspired not directed” – that the Obama administration used to describe the Dec. 2 attack on San Bernardino, California, in which a husband and wife jihadi team shot and killed 14 people at a Christmas party. As WND reported last week, the “inspired not directed” narrative is filled with holes, given the evidence in the San Bernardino case.

The arrests in Belgium came as investigators conducted searches in Brussels, in the surrounding province of Flemish Brabant and the eastern Belgian city of Liege on Sunday and Monday, according to the prosecutor’s office.

Police were investigating an alleged plot that targeted high-profile sites in Brussels during end-of-the-year celebrations, according to the prosecutor’s office.

The prosecutor’s office said the arrests are not linked to November’s deadly Paris terror attacks, which involved militants who had been living in Belgium and at least one who entered Europe as a "refugee" with a Syrian passport.

Six were initially arrested, and four of them were released.

In the raids, police found computer equipment, military uniforms and ISIS propaganda.

The linking of criminal gangs with Islamic ideology has long been a concern of law enforcement.

In some of the "Black Lives Matter" rallies in U.S. cities, protesters have waved ISIS flags or banners. It's also a known fact that Islamic preachers have been recruiting in U.S. prisons for years.

The Kamikaze Riders gang in Belgium has been linked to terror investigations in the past, several Belgian news outlets reported, according to KTVR, a CBS affiliate in Richmond, Virginia. A former leader of the group, Abdelouafi Elouassaki, was arrested in 2013 after one of his brothers, who had traveled to wage jihad in Syria, allegedly called him from there to tell him about a plan to attack the main law courts in Brussels. Elouassaki was released without charge. At least one other member of the group has reportedly also been tied to jihadist activity.

Morten Storm, a former Danish biker gang member who became a jihadist before becoming a double agent for the CIA, told CNN there was an increasing emergence of "gangster jihadism" in Europe.

"Muslim gangsters and jihadis have one thing in common: They hate the system," Storm told CNN. "A significant number of Muslims involved in criminality are becoming born again in the religion and are becoming radicalized in jail, but many keep their ties to their old circles when they get out,” he told CNN.

Thanks to the Human Rights Commission, Washington state’s newest law makes businesses open their bathroom doors to both men and women – meaning, men must be granted equal and unfettered access to the ladies’ restrooms

“This first-of-its=kind, statewide law is part of the recent push to frame gender-segregated bathrooms as an affront to ‘equality,’” wrote Joseph Backholm in the Family Policy Institute of Washington.

A new rule issued by the state’s HRC just took effect this month – and that’s after the Houston’s lesbian mayor lost her own personal campaign to open women’s restrooms to men, due to voter backlash. Voters in Missouri and Arkansas recently shot down similar proposals, too.

But Washington went a different way, and the HRC, which has rule-making powers, created a new mandate for the entire state to abide.

As The Family Policy Institute pointed, the state’s been battling with the issue for some time.

“School boards throughout Washington state have been wrestling with it. The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap County recently made headlines when they created a policy allowing transgender men to use the women’s locker room under any and all circumstances,” the organization reported. “However, this is the first statewide mandate that forces businesses to cooperate with a customer’s confusion about his or her gender.”

And the repercussions could prove disastrous, the organization suggested.

Backing down is not in Pamela Geller’s lexicon.

In May 2015, Geller hosted an art exhibit and drawing contest featuring images of the Muslim prophet Muhammad. Her aim was to stand up for free speech by showing that Muslims could not intimidate non-Muslim Americans into following Shariah blasphemy laws, which prohibit any depictions of Muhammad.

Two gunmen showed up at the Garland, Texas, event and started shooting, injuring a security officer before being killed by police.

Frightened into silence? Not Geller.

A month later, she launched a new billboard-ad campaign featuring the winning drawing from the Muhammad art contest. The billboards, which read “Support Free Speech,” went up in hundreds of locations around the country.

It is that fearlessness in the face of terror that led WND to name Pamela Geller the 2015 Woman of the Year.

“By sheer force of personality, tenacity and focused relentlessness, Pam Geller proved in 2015 that one woman could make a difference in the world even while fighting in an environment of seemingly insurmountable hostility and political correctness against what she correctly views as the Islamization of America,” said WND Editor and CEO Joseph Farah. “If you look up the word ‘courage’ in the dictionary, there ought to be a picture of Geller next to the definition.”

Geller was grateful to be named Woman of the Year.

She is the founder, editor, and publisher of Atlas Shrugs, a website that consolidates news from around the world on the violent exploits of Muslims and acquiescence to Islam in Western nations.

She’s also written a number of books, including “Stop the Islamization of America.” Her weekly column can be found at WND.

Geller did not slow down in 2015, even after the attack at her free speech event. In early December, after Attorney General Loretta Lynch suggested the Department of Justice would “take action” against those who employed anti-Muslim rhetoric that “edges toward violence,” Geller told Lynch, “Come and get me …” during an appearance on a Florida radio program.

Speaking about the incident, she later told WND: “If Obama wants to go to war against the American people, I say, bring it on. Jihadists wage jihad in order to impose Shariah, and they have succeeded. Terror in the White House.”

It was only last week that Geller learned two Muslim prisoners in Michigan had sued her for wearing a bikini in front of them.

But it was the Muhammad art contest that truly defined Geller’s year. She noted she received loads of criticism, even from some conservatives, for holding the event.

“We saw many who should have known better, including Donald Trump, Bill O’Reilly and Laura Ingraham, condemn me for holding the event, rather than condemning the jihadis for trying to murder me for exercising my freedom of speech,” Geller told WND.

“It was a time when many who were thought to be true proved false, and many who were widely thought to be cowards and trimmers, such as [National Review Editor] Rich Lowry, ended up demonstrating that they genuinely understood the free-speech principles that were at stake. Many woke up to the real nature and magnitude of the threat to our freedoms because of Garland, and I commend them for it.”

As Geller mentioned, Donald Trump criticized her at the time of the contest, saying she looked like she was “just taunting everybody.”

Geller said she admires Trump, WND’s 2015 Man of the Year, for his refusal to bow to political correctness, but his condemnation of her free-speech event remains a sticking point.

“This isn’t personal; it’s about the freedom of speech,” Geller said. “If he doesn’t understand that bowing to jihadi threats and refraining from drawing Muhammad only encourages more threats and more bullying, and if he doesn’t realize that the freedom of speech is the cornerstone of any free society, then he doesn’t deserve to be president.”

Geller said America needs a president who fully understands the threat posed by Islam and is not afraid to fight the enemy. She warned Europe’s present predicament could be the future of the U.S.

“What is happening now in the U.K., Germany and Sweden is what will be happening in the U.S. before too long: the expansion of Shariah enclaves, new aggressiveness from Muslims within them, agitation for special rights and privileges for Muslims, et cetera,” Geller declared. “I commend WND for trying to head that off, and to protect the principle of equality of rights for all before the law.”

Of course, the problem of Shariah enclaves is made worse by the ceaseless flow of Muslim refugees into Europe in the past year. Geller thinks it’s foolish for the U.S. to let in Muslim refugees. She noted some of the jihadists who attacked Paris in November entered France undetected among the refugee flow.

“There is no way to vet refugees,” she cautioned. “There are no records for most of them. Those for whom there are records only show criminal activity. The jihadis that ISIS is recruiting now have no criminal records. ISIS tells them to blend in with Western society.

“There is no way to keep jihadis among the refugees from entering the country. As such, it’s a national security risk to admit any of the refugees. The Saudis say this; why can’t we?”

To underscore her point, Geller referenced the recent massacre in San Bernardino, California.

“Our vetting process is already a catastrophic failure,” she said. “Tashfeen Malik, one of the San Bernardino shooters, passed five background checks from different government agencies. We can’t vet the refugees, and there are certain to be terrorists among them, so we should not take them.”

Looking ahead to 2016, she offered a disheartening prediction.

“Because of the denial and willful ignorance about the jihad threat among our political and media elites, things will only get worse,” Geller warned. “We should see less jihad in 2016, but instead, there is certain to be more.”

When asked how she plans to fight the Islamization of America in 2016, Geller offered only limited specifics.

“AFDI has proposed an 18-point platform to defeat the enemy,” she said. “I do indeed plan to continue doing billboards, and have other big plans for 2016 – watch my WND column for announcements!”

As Americans celebrated the Holidays with their loved ones… House Democrats, as their last action of the year, moved to to implement America’s first Sharia Law.

The message they sent is unmistakable…if Democrats and Hillary Clinton control Washington, D.C., our rights will be stripped from us, and Islam given special status above all.

Democrats quietly sponsored House Resolution 569, a resolution that asks lawmakers to condemn “violence, bigotry, and hateful rhetoric towards Muslims in the United States.” The resolution specifically mentions Muslims, no other religious groups, and will serve as a test by which further criminalizing of “Islamophobia” may be introduced.

Democrats have shamelessly lumped together “hate speech” with “violence” in an effort to compare criticism of Islam to physically harming Muslims. H. Res. 569 threatens to restrict our right to even report facts that tarnish Islam’s reputation, a law that all Sharia-governed countries already have in place.

According to Congress.gov, the resolution reads:

“Now, therefore, be it resolved, that the House of Representatives denounces in the strongest terms the increase of hate speech, intimidation, violence, vandalism, arson, and other hate crimes targeted against mosques, Muslims, or those perceived to be Muslim; urges local and Federal law enforcement authorities to work to prevent hate crimes; and to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law those perpetrators of hate crimes”

Muslims are slaughtering innocent people more than any other religious groups combined, all while refusing as a whole to condemn this barbaric Islamic terrorism, yet we are working to ensure these silent, consenting “moderates” have special protection — protection that they have never allowed religious minorities in their own countries.

In another passage, Democrats laughably purport that Muslims have contributed to the fabric of American society, but we’re assuming they don’t mean terrorist attacks on U.S. soil, countless frivolous CAIR lawsuits, whitewashed Islamic education in public schools, or whining about pork products and a lack of taxpayer-funded prayer rooms.

“Whereas this Muslim community is recognized as having made innumerable contributions to the cultural and economic fabric and well-being of United States society”

Still, the bill is purposefully vague in that it mentions prosecuting the perpetrators of “hate speech,” yet gives no definition for what it considers hate speech. Of course, we who have spoken out about the intolerant fundamentals of Islam understand that this means uttering anything critical of Islam or its followers, regardless of facts or relevance to the Quran.

Unbelievable! In essence, Democrats are trying to codify into law what Obama infamously said at the United Nations:

And only Islam, of course. Obama never defends Christianity, and has done nothing but criticize it, even once going so far as to equate ISIS to Christians by citing the Crusades.

In conclusion, the bill ridiculously compares criticizing Islam as a violation of Muslims’ “civil rights,” as if disagreeing or even openly mocking someone’s beliefs is unconstitutional. Our forefathers had exactly political and religious mockery in mind when they penned our amendments, having experience the violation of limited speech and worship by their own King George III.

Indeed, free speech was never intended to defend inoffensive speech, because inoffensive speech needs no protection. Freedom of speech is solely for the offensive, meant to prevent those who would limit it because of their opposing beliefs.

We are witnessing the very implementation of Sharia law as it has always been established in every modern-day Islamic country. Of course they wouldn’t start by legalizing the execution of homosexuals or mandating the hijab for every woman, because we wouldn’t accept being forced to adopt full Sharia right off the bat. You can’t cook a frog by placing him in scalding water — he’ll jump out. However, you can slowly increase the temperature until he is boiling before he ever knew the water was uncomfortable.

Spread this everywhere…this must not stand. If Democrats have their way, our rights will be threatened like never before.
