DAILY DEVOTIONAL – FEBRUARY 29, 2021 The Language of Love and Mercy By Gary Wilkerson Jesus tells a crowd of Pharisees and religious people around him,  “I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd”        (John 10:14-16, ESV). The Greek word here for “listen” isn’t just for hearing and recognizing someone’s voice; it can also mean “language.”  Jesus is telling the Pharisees, “You don’t recognize my voice” in one sense, but he’s also saying,  “You don’t understand the language of grace and mercy.”  They couldn’t understand the language of a father’s heart of love. For those who have been rescued by God, we will not only recognize Christ’s voice, but we will also understand the language of love and mercy.  Once you hear that language, you’re not going to want to listen to another voice.  The languages of works, dead religion and sin will no longer be appealing. This is part of how we go out into the world without fear of the world getting into us.  We can go out with a confidence and boldness because we hear the Father’s voice and we know his language. “Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. They are from the world; therefore they speak from the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error” (1 John 4:4-6). We will know God, and we will be known as his own, and the spiritual powers of darkness in the world cannot overcome the Spirit in us.  That’s a wonderful promise. Today's devotional reading for: Monday, Mar 1, 2021 Five Prayers That Will Change Your Life … I give myself to prayer. — Psalm 109:4 All Christians need to learn how to abide in prayer.  I am sure most of you have your stated times of prayer in the morning and at night, before your meals and after. The Bible says that we are to pray always.  In all times, in all things, we are to pray.  We should constantly be in touch with God.  We are to walk with Him and talk with Him.  Our last thoughts at night and our first thoughts in the morning will be of Him, as we learn to be always in prayer and thus to be dwelling in the secret place of the most High. In the next few days, we will go through five prayers that can change our lives.  Here they are: Slay me (i.e., my old nature). Cleanse me. Fill me (with Your Holy Spirit). Lead me. Use me. Try to pray these every day, and you will begin to notice changes. Question to ponder: Have you given yourself over to prayer?

REVELATION - THE CHURCH IN SARDIS

 

Revelation 3:1-6

To the angel of the Church in Sardis write:

These are the words of Him

Who holds the Seven Spirits of God and the Seven Stars.

I know your deeds;

YOU HAVE A REPUTATION OF BEING ALIVE,

BUT YOU ARE DEAD.

2 WAKE UP!

STRENGTHEN WHAT REMAINS AND IS ABOUT TO DIE,

FOR I HAVE NOT FOUND YOUR DEEDS

COMPLETE IN THE SIGHT OF MY GOD.

3 Remember, therefore,

What you have received and heard;

OBEY IT, AND REPENT.

But if you do not wake up,

I WILL COME LIKE A THIEF,

And you will not know at what time I will come to you.

4 Yet you have a few people in Sardis

Who have not soiled their clothes.

They will walk with me, Dressed in White,

For they are Worthy.

5 HE WHO OVERCOMES WILL,

LIKE THEM BE DRESSED IN WHITE.

I WILL NEVER ERASE HIS NAME

FROM THE BOOK OF LIFE,

But will acknowledge his name

Before My Father and His angels.

6 HE WHO HAS AN EAR,

LET HIM HEAR WHAT THE SPIRIT SAYS TO THE CHURCHES.

Christ Jesus embodies the Seven Fold Spirit of God,

He holds the Angels, the Leaders of His Church, in His hands.

He knows the Deeds of the Church in Sardis,

Which is thought to be alive

By those who look through the eyes of man;

But in reality, in the eyes of God, they are Dead.

Christ Jesus tells them to Wake Up,

And Strengthen what remains and is about to Die.

He does not find their Deeds complete in the eyes of God.

He tells them to remember what they have received and heard;

To Repent, of their current situation

And Obey what they have received and heard.

If they do not, He warns them that He will come like a Thief;

They will not know when He will come.

The few Saints in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes

By disobeying what they have received and heard,

Will walk with Christ, Dressed in White

(His righteousness) for they are Worthy.

All those who Overcome the Deception of Satan,

Will be like them, Dressed in White;

Their Names will never be erased from The Book of LIFE,

And Christ Jesus will acknowledge their names

Before His Father and His angels.

All of us who have an ear,

Let us hear what the Spirit (Christ) says to the Churches.

Today, each one of us must be Alive in and to God;

We must have Zeal and Fervency toward God;

The Scriptures teach that Christ's Zeal for God Consumed Him;

That the Kingdom of God is apprehended

By forceful men and women,

Who have set their hearts and minds to please Christ Jesus.

We must Obey what we have received and heard.

If we do not, we will be surprised by the coming of Christ.

If we are not prepared to meet Him,

There will be Terrible Consequences.

Yet, all we have to do,

Is to continue to drink of His Living Water,

Continue to put our Faith, Hope and Trust in Him.

To love Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.

Then He belongs to us and we belong to Him

And we can live in the Peace of God

That passes all human understanding.

MY COUNTRY TIS OF THEE

 

My country tis of thee,
Sweet land of liberty,
Of thee I sing.
Land where my fathers died!
Land of the Pilgrim's pride!
From every mountain side,
Let freedom ring!

My native country, thee,
Land of the noble free,
Thy name I love.
I love thy rocks and rills,
Thy woods and templed hills;
My heart with rapture fills
Like that above.

Let music swell the breeze,
And ring from all the trees
Sweet freedom's song.
Let mortal tongues awake;
