1 JOHN Chapter 2

My dear Children, I write this to you so that you will not Sin.

But if anybody does Sin,

We have One Who speaks to the Father in our Defense—

Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.

2 He is the Atoning Sacrifice for our Sins,

And not only for ours but also for the Sins of the Whole World.

3 We know that we have come to know Him

If we Obey His Commands.

4 The man who says,

'I know Him,' but does not do what He Commands is a Liar,

And the Truth is not in him.

5 But if anyone Obeys His Word,

God's love is Truly mad complete in him.

THIS IS HOW WE KNOW WE ARE IN HIM:

6 WHOEVER CLAIMS TO LIVE IN HIM MUST WALK AS JESUS DID.

7 Dear Friends, I am not writing you a New Command

But an Old one,

Which you have had since the beginning.

This Old Command is the Message you have heard.

8 Yet I am writing yo a New Command;

Its Truth is seen In Him and you,

BECAUSE THE DARKNESS IS PASSING

AND THE TRUE LIGHT IS ALREADY SHINING.

9 Anyone who claims to be In The Light

But Hates his brother is still in the Darkness.

10 Whoever loves his Brother lives In The Light,

And there is nothing in him to make him stumble.

11 But whoever Hates his Brother is in the darkness

And walks around in the darkness;

He does not know where he is going,

BECAUSE THE DARKNESS HAS BLINDED HIM.

12 I write to you, dear Children,

Because your Sins have been forgiven on account of His Name.

33 I write to you, Fathers,

Because you have known Him Who is from the beginning.

I write to you, young men,

Because you have Overcome the Evil One.

I write to you, dear Children,

Because you have known the Father.

14 I write to you, fathers

Because you have known Him Who is from the beginning.

I write to you, young men,

Because you are strong, and the Word of God lives in you,

And you have Overcome the Evil One.

Do Not Love The World

15 DO NOT LOVE THE WORLD OR ANY THING IN THE WORLD.

IF ANYONE LOVES THE WORLD,

THE LOVE OF THE FATHER IS NOT IN HIM.

16 For everything in the World--

The cravings of Sinful man,

The Lust of the eyes

And the boasting of what he has and does--

Comes not from the Father but from the World.

17 THE WORLD AND ITS DESIRES PASS AWAY,

BUT THE MAN WHO DOES THE WILL OF GOD LIVES FOREVER.

Warning Against Antichrists

18 DEAR CHILDREN THIS IS THE LAST HOUR;

And as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming,

Even now many Antichrists have come.

THIS IS HOW YOU KNOW IT IS THE LAST HOUR.

19 They went out from us,

But they did not really belong to us.

For if they had belonged to us,

They would have remained with us;

But their going showed that none of them belonged to us.

20 BUT YOU HAVE AN ANOINTING FROM THE HOLY ONE,

AND ALL OF YOU KNOW THE TRUTH.

I do not write to you because you do not know the Truth,

But because you do know it

And because No Lie comes from the Truth.

22 WHO IS THE LIAR?

It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ.

Such a man is the Antichrist--

He denies the Father and the Son.

23 NO ONE WHO DENIES THE SON HAS THE FATHER;

WHOEVER ACKNOWLEDGES THE SON HAS THE FATHER ALSO.

24 See that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you.

If it does, you also will remain In the Son and In the Father.

25 AND THIS IS WHAT HE PROMISED US—EVEN ETERNAL LIFE.

26 I am writing these things to you

About those who are trying to lead you Astray.

27 AS FOR YOU,

THE ANOINTING YOU RECEIVED FROM HIM REMAINS IN YOU,

AND YOU DO NOT NEED ANYONE TO TEACH YOU.

BUT AS HIS ANOINTING TEACHES YOU ABOUT ALL THINGS

AND AS THAT ANOINTING IS REAL, NOT COUNTERFEIT--

JUST AS IT HAS TAUGHT YOU, REMAIN IN HIM.

28 And now, dear Children, Continue In Him,

So that when He appears we may be Confident

And Unashamed before Him at His Coming.

This should come as no surprise to anyone who has not been drinking the enemedia Kool-Aid. Obama’s hard-left policies were ruinous for the American economy. It will take a long time to undo the damage he did.

On Thursday we closed the book on the Obama economic “miracle” — and it’s a miracle we are not in a recession.

Last week the Commerce Department released its third revision for fourth-quarter 2016 gross domestic product. The number came in at a paltry 2.1 percent, meaning that growth during President Obama’s final year in office — the end of an “Error of Hope” — landed with a big thud at just 1.6 percent.

That low-water mark puts the Obama presidency in last place among all the post-World War II presidents when it comes to economic growth….

Thirteenth of 13 presidents is no mild distinction. Obama had eight full years to enact a growth policy, while many of his predecessors never had two complete terms. George H.W. Bush and Jimmy Carter had just four years each, Gerald Ford had less than three years and Richard Nixon had five….

Here are the average growth rates for each president:

ANTI-SEMITIC BULLYING FORCES JEWISH TEEN FROM BERLIN HIGH SCHOOL

THE STORY OF A 14-YEAR-OLD WHO HAD TO CHANGE SCHOOLS TO ESCAPE ANTI-SEMITISM IS MAKING HEADLINES IN GERMANY. THE BOYS’ TORMENTORS WERE OF ARAB AND TURKISH DESCENT – MAKING THE NEWS EVEN MORE EXPLOSIVE.

The “Chronicle” reported that 14-year-old “Phillip” (not his real name) transferred from the Gemeinschaftschule in the Friedenau district of Berlin to another school after suffering anti-Semitic abuse. The teenager was subjected to verbal harassment after revealing he was Jewish. He was also grabbed and threatened with a realistic-looking pistol that later turned out to be fake.

“Listen, you are a cool dude but I can’t be friends with you,” the newspaper quoted one of his former classmates as saying. “Jews are all murderers.”

The mother of “Phillip” decided to send him to another high school. The teenager himself is shocked by what happened to him.

“It was terrible, but I didn’t have time to think what’s happening at the time,” “Phillip” told “The Jewish Chronicle.” “Now when I look back, I think, oh my God.”

The newspaper wrote that the case “illustrates long history of antisemitic (sic) harassment of Jewish pupils, particularly by Arab and Turkish children.”

The first incidence of anti-SemitismIronically, the school in question participates in the pro-tolerance initiative “Schools Without Racism – Schools With Courage.” Members pledge to abide by principles of multicultural and interfaith respect, a message that seems not have gotten through to some of “Phillip’s” classmates.

In a written statement on the school’s website, the school directorship said it was distressed by the incident.

“Firstly we’d like to express our regret and horror that a student was forced to experience anti-Semitism in his everyday school life,” the statement read. “We are losing an especially active and high-achieving student who chose our school with joy and saw it as an opportunity to further his development.”

The school said that after the first incident was reported, it had invited “Phillip’s” grandparents, who witnessed the Holocaust, to talk to his class. The statement added that the school was seeking help from the pro-tolerance Salaam-Shalom initiative and the city government.

The school said that it was reporting the students who tormented “Phillip” to the police and that this was the first time it had been confronted with anti-Semitism.

School principal Uwe Runkel said he was sorry that “Phillip” had left.

“After the first incident, we addressed it,” Runkel told Berlin’s “Tagesspiegel” newspaper. “Now unfortunately we no longer have the chance to convince the boy that he’s safe here. But we’ll continue to address this issue, and the perpetrators will face consequences.”

So is this an isolated incident of bullying carried out by historically ignorant youths? Or is anti-Semitism a widespread problem in Berlin schools with a high percentage of students from Muslim backgrounds?

Many anti-Semitic incidents are the work of the extreme right

‘I’d beat up a Jew’

The story opened the floodgates for social media posts attacking Muslims and excoriating Chancellor Angela Merkel’s welcoming stance toward refugees. In fact, there was no indication that any of the tormentors came from refugee families, and anti-Semitic attacks on Jews in Germany are carried out not just by Muslims, but by right-wing extremists as well. Nor is the problem in general restricted to Germany.

On the other hand, there is no denying that anti-Semitic thought and speech is common among some Muslim students in some German schools. Activists have been drawing attention to the problem for years.

“Because of concrete cases of mobbing and a general climate of anti-Semitic expressions of hostility, some students prefer to go to non-public, Jewish schools,” the director of the American Jewish Committee in Berlin, Deidre Berger, told the “Bild am Sonntag” newspaper in March 2015.

In May of that year, the Deutschlandfunk radio station recorded students from Muslim backgrounds at one Berlin school saying things like: “If a Jew enters our school, he’ll get beaten up – I’d beat him up too.”

“The Jewish Chronicle” quoted Aaron Eckstaedt, principal of the Moses Mendelssohn Jewish High School in Berlin, saying that “six to 10” parents a year tried to move their children there to escape anti-Semitic harassment.

And the problem is by no means confined to the German capital.

The Deutschlandfunk report also featured Jewish teachers from Berlin and elsewhere in Germany saying that they were afraid to reveal their religion to their students.

“There was a student who told me: ‘If I saw a Jew, I’d immediately kill him,'” one teacher from northern Germany told the radio station on the condition of anonymity. “And he meant it.”

The abuse caused one teacher in Berlin to address an angry public letter to Chancellor Angela Merkel and other leaders complaining about anti-Semitism in Berlin’s schools. Berlin authorities say they are aware of the problem and acknowledge that the word “Jew” is frequently used as an insult in some of the German capital’s schools.

There was a flurry of interest in the topic in 2015, when the German-Israel Youth Congress was held in Berlin, but the public attention quickly dissipated. Other incidents of anti-Semitism in Berlin schools were reported last year. According to the website report-antisemitism.de, members of the Jewish Forum for Democracy and against Anti-Semitism (JFDA) were called “child murderers” when they visited a school in the heavily Muslim district of Neukölln in May 2016. The JFDA said they had never before experienced such crass anti-Semitism among students.

There are no official statistics on anti-Semitic incidents specifically in Berlin schools, although the Research and Information Office on Anti-Semitism in Berlin recorded 470 such incidents generally in Berlin last year. Experts say the problem of anti-Semitism in schools stems partly from the conflicts in the Middle East and young people’s susceptibility to conspiracy theories.

“The Middle East conflict is a big concern of these young people, but their knowledge of the issues is very one-sided,” Islamism expert Ahmad Monsour told the “Tagesspiegel” in 2015. “It quickly turns into anti-Semitism. It’s easy to say the Jews are to blame for everything.”

There is a debate raging over whether American Christians should start adopting a benedictine approach to living out their faith in modern America. 

That is, refusing to compromise on certain aspects on their faith, be it in politics, education or any other sphere of public life. 

But critics of this view see it as isolationist and think that we should be careful not to retreat from the world's problems. 

"Whenever I talk about the Benedict Option, my strategy for conservative Christians to live faithfully in our post-Christian nation, inevitably someone will ask, "Are you saying that Christians should head for the hills?"" writes Benedict Option advocate, Rod Dreher at Dallas News. 

"No. For most of us, that would be neither feasible nor desirable. Monks are called to the monastery. 

Lay Christians are called to the world. But given the definitive shift away from Christian belief and norms in public life, the laity are going to have to start living more monastically in the world - or we are going to lose the faith entirely."

Dreher argues that in amidst the 'religious decline' engulfing the US, we need to start thinking about how to respond. 

"We in the West have been in a place like this before. 

When the Roman Empire fell in the in the fifth century, its collapse was a catastrophic blow to its people, who had never known any other order," he points out. 

"Out of the ruins came Benedict of Nursia, a Christian who sought a way to live faithfully amid the rubble of a once-great civilization. He started a monastic order and wrote a rule for them to live by."

"Over the next few centuries, Benedictine monks spread across Western Europe, establishing a steady, evangelizing presence amid the darkness and chaos of the barbarian era. 

They helped lay the groundwork for the rebirth of civilization."

Now, argues Dreher, it could be time for Christians to ensure history repeats itself. 

"There are a number of lessons, but they all depend on a conviction that believers have to understand themselves as exiles and change their lives to live accordingly. 

That means separating in limited, targeted ways from the secularizing mainstream, and embracing truly countercultural discipleship," he writes. 

"This can include changes as big as withdrawing from public schools (or Christian-in-name-only religious schools), or as seemingly small as refusing to let our kids be a part of immersive smartphone culture."

This still sounds a bit isolationist, doesn't it? 

"Does this mean running to the bunker with a Bible in hand, and watching the world go to hell with our fellow pious preppers? 

Not at all," argues Dreher. "But if we are to remain faithful under increasingly adverse cultural conditions and bear authentic witness to post-Christian America, we are going to have to spend a lot more time within our Christian community in rigorous spiritual training."

Now is not a time to compromise on the central tenets of our faith, argues Dreher. "Christians can best serve the common good by serving God first, and coming to the public square as Christians in full, not as conformists or compromisers," he writes. 

"If we are refused admission because our faith offends, so let it be. It is far more important to be a faithful Christian than to be a good American. Time was that there was no conflict between the two goals. Those days are over."

"No matter which tradition you worship in, the future of Christianity in America will be a lot more Benedictine in spirit and practice - or it won't be at all."

My comments: If we belong to Chrsit Jesus, we have a Rule to live by, His Teachings. Nothing more and nothing less. This is our Duty and our High Honor.

GREATER THAN GOD'S LIFE INSURANCE POLICY

Life Insurance Only?

“For the Mighty One has done great things for me; and holy is His name.  “And His mercy is upon generation after generation Toward those who fear Him.”   (Luke 1:49-50 NASB)

Mary’s prayer, her song of praise, the intimate thoughts she had after Gabriel told her about giving birth to the very Son of God is far beyond human comprehension.

I wonder about her overwhelming fear, uncertainty what was happening, and what it all meant to her. God was to bring through her body, much more than just a son, but hope and promise for eternal life--escape from the penalty for all unrighteousness. 

This event that happened to Mary was much more than my going out to purchase a life insurance policy to keep me out of hell. God revealed His opportunity to me--His sacrificial agape’ love of intimacy with the Son of man.  

The Good News that we’re to proclaim for all mankind ‘from generation to generation’ is God’s challenge for each one of His children. It’s a daily mindset of growing and discovering what part we each play in learning to be holy as He is holy.  

“Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him. In love.” [Ephesians 1:4]

This mandate determines my desire for intimacy with the Son of God, who Mary brought into the world, who one day at Calvary became hope for all who will receive and follow Him.

Father, this love story is far greater than thinking my salvation is about a life insurance policy to pay for my sinfulness. Thank you.

The Law of the Spirit of LIFE

ONLY A REMNANT WILL BE SAVED

Isaiah cries out concerning Israel:

'Though the number of the Israelites be like the sand by the sea,

ONLY THE REMNANT WILL BE SAVED.

For the Lord will carry out His Sentence on Earth

With Speed and Finality.

It is just as Isaiah said previously:

'Unless the Lord Almighty had left us Descendants,

We would have become like Sodom

And we would have been like Gomorrah.'

What then shall we say?

That the Gentiles, who did not pursue Righteousness,

Have attained it,

A RIGHTEOUSNESS THAT IS BY FAITH;

But Israel, who pursued a Law of Righteousness,

HAS NOT OBTAINED IT

WHY NOT?

Because they pursued it not by Faith

But as if it were by works.

THEY STUMBLED OVER THE “STUMBLING STONE.”

As it is written:

'SEE, I LAY IN ZION A STONE (CHRIST)

That causes men to Stumble

And a Rock (Christ) that makes them Fall,

AND THE ONE WHO TRUSTS IN HIM

WILL NEVER BE PUT TO SHAME.'

(Romans 9:27-33)

It is by Grace you have been Saved, through Faith--

And this not from yourselves,

IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD—NOT BY WORKS,

So that no one can boast.

For we are God's Workmanship,

Created in Christ Jesus to do Good Works,

Which God prepared in Advance for us to do.

(Ephesians 2:8-10)

Faith, is the Gift of God.

To be Born Again is the Gift of God;

To be Born of the Spirit is the Gift of God.

“You Must Be Born Again.” (John 3:7)

The Remnant consists of those who are Born Again,

And who are walking in the Light of Christ Jesus.
