FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH

Fight the Good Fight of Faith
Lynn Gipson

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, where unto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.--1 Timothy 6:12 (KJV)

There are times when I feel like giving up, friends. I have to admit that sometimes I get so tired I want to say, "uncle!" That's it! I can't take anymore! I pray day and night for relief, and I keep telling myself that God never gives us a burden that we can't carry. Those are the times when I ask, "Where are you, Lord?"

Here's the thing. I have faith as tall as any mountain God ever put on this earth. I know God is with me through every trial and triumph I experience. But sometimes, I get so weary I forget that He is carrying me through it all.

That's when I fall on my knees and thank Him for my trials. I thank Him because I am alive to receive those trials. I tell Him how grateful I am for each and every day He has extended my life since that day five years ago when my doctors told me I had very little time to live.

God then reminds me that He and He alone, is my strength, and He will sustain me. I can rest in His arms forever, as long as my faith is strong.

As I go through these "feel like giving up" times, a little voice inside me tells me to keep going. Something urges me on, like little spurts of strength pushing through the weariness. That something is my faith in God.

So, I will fight the good fight, and hold on to my faith, and praise, yes, forever, praise the Lord.

Dear Lord, thank you for the trials in my life, for they strengthen my faith. Amen.
