The Great Takeover

Cheryl Weber

Now more than ever, we seem to be seeing the fulfillment of Jesus' predictions of world conditions just before his return.
It can be easy to fall prey to fear and discouragement.

But the Bible assures us that God is staging The Great Takeover.

This takeover began at the cross where Jesus conquered death and sin.
(1 Corinthians 15:54-57, Romans 8:3b) It occurs in lives submitted to and transformed by the Lord (Romans 12:1-2).
We become new creations

(2 Corinthians 5:17), receive eternal life (John 3:16, Romans 8:11), and gain victory over sin (Ephesians 4:21-24) as we are transformed daily into the image of Christ (Romans 8:29).
Like the believers of the early church, we can share the Gospel everywhere and turn the world upside down. (Acts 17:6 KJV, Matthew 28:18-20)

Multiple passages in the Bible predict this great takeover.
In Daniel 7:13-14, Daniel sees a vision of “the Ancient One” who was given authority over the world, ruling a “kingdom [that] will never be destroyed.” NLT Philippians 2:10-11 promises that one day, every knee will bow to Christ.

In Revelations 11:16-17 John saw twenty-four elders who fell on their faces before God and worshiped him.

“And they said, ‘We give thanks to you, Lord God, the Almighty, the one who is and who always was, for now you have assumed your great power and have begun to reign.’” NLT

2 Peter 3:10-13 and Revelation 21:1-7 tell us that God will create a new heavens and earth, “filled with God’s righteousness (vs.13).

In 1 Corinthians 15:20-25, Paul reminds us of the coming resurrection of believers and how Jesus, “will turn the Kingdom over to God the Father, having destroyed every ruler and authority and power.” (vs. 25 NLT)

God holds back judgment because he wants everyone to be saved (2 Peter 3:9).
But when the time is right, he will return, put an end to wickedness, and reward the righteous, those who trust in Christy alone. (Matthew 25:31-46)

PRAYER: Almighty God, you reign supreme and your plans and purposes cannot fail. I trust in you alone. AMEN
