SIN AND THE WORKS OF THE FLESH

Title: Understanding the difference between Sin and the works of the flesh
Text: Galatians 5:19-21
"The acts of the flesh are obvious: Sexual immorality, impurity, lust, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred ,discord, jealousy, fits of rags, selfish ambitions, dissension, factions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these.
I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the Kingdom of God."
Introduction:
As believers we often use term "Sin" and "works of the flesh" interchangeably. However, there is a subtle difference between the two.
Sin:
Sin is violation of God's law, a rebellion against his authority.
It is a heart issue, a matter of disobedience and rebellion.
Sin separates us from God and requires forgiveness and cleansing.
Works of the Flesh:
Works of the flesh on the other hand, are the manifestations of sin in our lives.
They are the outward expressions of our inward rebellion against God.
Works of the flesh are the symptoms of a deeper heart issue.
These are the key differences:
1. source: Sin comes from the heart, while works of the flesh are the outward expression of sin.
2. Nature: Sin is a violation of God's law, while works of the flesh are the consequences of that violation.
3. Focus: Sin focuses on disobedience and rebellion, while works of the flesh focuses on the outward behaviors and attitudes.
In conclusion: the Understanding of the difference between Sin and the works of the flesh is crucial for our spiritual growth and Maturity. We must address the root issue of sin in our hearts, rather than dealing with the symptoms of the works of the flesh.
May we seek forgiveness, cleansing, and transformation in Christ.
Be blessed, my wonderful family in Christ.
