How We Make the Christian Life Much More Difficult

We refuse to believe God.

But the men who had gone up with him said,
“We are not able to go up against the people,
For they are stronger than we.”
And they gave the children of Israel a bad report
Of the land which they had spied out, saying,
Num 13:31-32a NKJV

The Israelites were unable to enter the promised land for one reason.
Because they would not trust God.
They compared themselves to the problem, the giants in the promised land, instead of comparing the giants to our great God.
It struck me recently that they actually refused to believe God.
When I realized this, I had to look at myself too.
Where am I refusing to believe God’s promises?
How is it affecting my life?

Have you ever thought about God’s promises of peace, strength and His power for us, in comparison to how our life looks?
Do you blame your lack on God?
We often want to sugar coat things and say we just doubt or struggle. Could it be that we refuse to believe His promises too?
I believe that much of our struggle is because we refuse to believe, to trust God with the here and now.
With provision, protection and life.
He wants our best and even His laws reflect this truth.

The areas where we refuse to believe God are exactly where the enemy will attack us and leave us struggling the most.
God promises many things in His word.
Things like peace, provision and protection.
If we do not have His overcoming peace, I would say it is a symptom of unbelief in those specific promises.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have His peace in all circumstances?
If comes with all out belief in His promises.

I encourage you to look honestly at your walk with God.
Where are you refusing to believe Him and struggling?
Do you trust Him or not?
What do you have to lose, isn’t it about time to get both feet out of the boat and trust Him all out?
No more double mindedness.
Trust His Word (Jesus) and take steps of faith as He goes with you.
