“Abandoning the straight road, they have gone astray.”
2 Peter 2:15 NAB
There is a mystical road—the straight road—that we cannot see with our physical eyes.
But God says it exists, and so it does.
It is also defined in Matthew 7:14 as the narrow road: “But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life and those who find it are few in number.”
This mystical way is identified in Psalm 139:24 as the everlasting way: “See if there is any hurtful way in me, then lead me in the everlasting way.”
This is the road that the righteous walk, those who resist temptation and live in God’s will.
It is the life of the repentant sinner who, having gone astray, always gets back on the straight road.
We are chosen and destined to travel this mystical road.
Jesus walks alongside us as we journey.
Our challenge is to reject the voices that say, No, go this way.
t’s easy to get distracted and lose our way, effortless to just go with the flow.
So, will you go with the flow or follow the straight road?
Lord, show me this straight road, this narrow road, your everlasting way.
With my spiritual eyes, may it always be clear to me. Help me to keep my focus ahead.
May I reject the voices that say, no—this is the way.
In this era of false teachers and heresies, may I never be swayed to just go with the flow.
And if I go astray, Lord, come after me!
Rescue me once again and point me in the right direction.
May I never abandon this everlasting way—the one that leads all your children to everlasting life, and finally, home.
Amen.
