I am going to tell you three facts about Christmas. These are not ordinary facts; they are facts that prove Jesus is the Son of God. But first I want to tell you why I wrote this.
Strangely enough, my message is not to those who doubt the existence of God. I am not even trying to inspire lukewarm believers to repent.
Oh no. This is for you—the warrior whose heart burns for God.
You are the ones who feel a special suffering in this hour. You held your ground. You have resisted the flood of immorality that is beyond words.
Oh no, this is for you—the warrior whose heart burns for God.
What really brings heartbreaks for those who are on fire for Christ in America is that they feel an attack coming from both directions. From one side they are vexed by the flood of evil, hate, and depravity.
From the other side, they feel alienated, walking out of worship centers that kowtow to an evil and adulterous generation. The righteous core says to each other, ‘This is not it! There has to be more.’
Imagine the feeling of being shunned by society and betrayed by your church. If they could find the words, it would probably be the psalmist’s cry,
“If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3).
What can we do? First you must remember you are not foolish to love God with all your heart. You did not check your brain at the door when you surrendered to Jesus. Your beliefs are the best there are.
We have a message for those who doubt our sanity. We have a defense for our declaration of faith! We say:
You did not check your brain at the door when you surrendered to Jesus.
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the best thing mankind has ever heard. J.R.R. Tolkien, author of The Lord of the Rings, said, “There is no other story we would rather find true.”
No other message (it’s not even close) has such hope and power. Investigate the length and breadth of human misery. Do a deep dive into world history. Study how to end wars and injustice. Do it with intellectual honesty and you will wind up at the foot of the Cross.
Our commitment to Jesus is not based on emotion, wishful thinking or a fallacy. The Gospel is based on proof. Never forget that!
Many do not realize how much proof is in the Christian faith.
Acts 17:31 says, “For He has set a day when He will judge the world with justice by the Man He has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising Him from the dead.”
When Paul the apostle preached, he did not just make the case—he proved it! Acts 9:22, “But Saul increased all the more in strength, and confounded the Jews who dwelt in Damascus, proving that this Jesus is the Christ.”
Many do not realize how much proof is in the Christian faith.
Here are three words: WHEN, WHERE, WHAT. These words hold the proof of Christmas.
1. When Jesus was born: He was born at the time of the fourth monarchy, just as Daniel predicted. 540 years earlier Daniel interpreted the King’s dream. It showed that four world powers would rise up and during the reign of the fourth, the Messiah would come.
Daniel 2:44, “And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a Kingdom which shall never be destroyed…”
Matthew Henry said, “He was born in the days of Augustus Caesar, when the Roman empire extended itself further than ever before or since, including Parthia one way, and Britain another way; so that it was then called Terraram orbis imperium—The empire of the whole earth…”
2. Where Jesus was born: He was born in Bethlehem. Just as Micah had written 512 years before. Micah 5:2,
“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting.”
When Caesar Augustus taxed the whole world, he did it to make his government more powerful. But He did not know the hand of God was in it to get Joseph and Mary to Bethlehem. He did it in policy, but God did it in prophecy. The whole word was troubled and changed in order to fulfill prophecy.
3. What happened to Mary: Why was she spared? When she was found to be with child she was spared from being stoned because the angels appeared to the shepherds. This miracle was so compelling that it removed her reproach.
Luke 2:8-12, “Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”
Proof is a powerful thing—an irresistible thing. As Peter said, “For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty. (2 Peter 1:12).
Christmas proves that Jesus is the Son of God and by default it proves we belong to Him! Rejoice warrior of God! Our life in God is more real, more verifiable than anything going on around us!
