Obtaining Access To God’s Grace

Robert Schaetzle

“Through him we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in our hope of sharing the glory of God.” Romans 5:2 RSV.

I feel one of my most treasured blessings is the measure of God’s grace that we receive, like the abundance of God’s faithfulness to me with each new day.
Daily I’m recognizing His intimacy of fellowship through His abiding presence.
God’s Holy Spirit directs my heart to desire His sufficiency for each task before me throughout each new day.
May we recognize the character of God, and fully believe God cannot deny himself as we strive (and sometimes fail) to believe the faithful promises in His Word.

“God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should repent. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?” Numbers 23:19 RSV.

An abundant treasure of God’s faithfulness is received for each one of those who choose to want God to lead — for those willing to ‘deny self’ and learn to take up their own cross daily as it were.
This means losing the ‘self-life’ that I might find something better, and obtaining access to God’s grace.
His sufficiency will be given through our weaknesses, hardships, and calamities.
Through the weakness of our flesh, we become strong as promised in the Scripture; (cf. 2 Corinthians 12:10 RSV).

The Apostle Paul wrote in his letter to the Romans, “But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man’s trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift in the grace of that one-man Jesus Christ abounded for many.” Romans 5:15 RSV.

What a wonderful promise that should inspire God’s people to say, “Thank You Lord for obtaining access to your grace.”
