What had once been a single church of a few dozen believers suddenly became three village churches that were started by locals in the community!Four years ago, a handful of Samburu people became Christians after hearing the gospel for the first time in their village. As our partner Gerald and his teammates continued to visit the village to share more about the Bible and disciple new believers, they heard about several needs among these people. Water was scarce, and people often walked for miles to find any water. What they brought back was often contaminated, and the children would become alarmingly sick. Because of the harsh, arid land and lack of water, malnutrition was also a serious issue. Gerald and the team partnered with the very new Samburu church to build a well for the community. The gifts of people like you went to purchasing a water treatment system so that children could safely drink the water. Funds were also sent to bring Moringa trees to the community; with their nutrient rich fruit and leaves and ability to survive in arid climates, the trees quickly began to provide the village with a steady food source. Why does this matter? Because it helped the gospel spread even further and faster! Seeing the water well and the gift of fruit trees, the hearts of many were touched by the compassion of the believers and were opened to the gospel. Many more villagers came to Christ. What had once been a single church of a few dozen believers suddenly became four village churches were started by locals in the community! God has been using your gifts to help the Samburu church grow exponentially in Northern Kenya, a place that has been without the gospel for centuries.
On Tuesday November 28th, join us in a global day of generousity as we bring the good news of Jesus to the ends of the earth. |
