“Grace be with all who have undying love for our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Ephesians 6:24 CSB)
Things die hard for those bound to the love of self: bad habits, bad temper, bad company, etc.
Other things die easy; good intentions, yearly resolutions, or promises made and forgotten.
But for those who truly love the Lord, life is marked by unselfish living and hopeful endurance, expressed by a love which
“…bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” Such a love is the love we need, a love that “never ends…” (cf. 1 Corinthians 13: 7-8a CSB).
God the Father is looking for such ‘undying love’ from people who worship him—from people who are indwelt with the Spirit of Christ.
Perhaps you are thinking, ‘I’m not ready to give God my undying love – and I don’t feel willing.’
Well, would you like to be willing?
The Psalmist David wrote, “Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power…” (Psalm 110:3a KJV).
Did you catch that?
Tell God you don’t feel willing—then ask Him for power to do what you wish you were willing to do.
God never expects us to please Him in our own power.
He knows we’re lost without Him.
The fact is the Spirit of God must live in us if we are to live a life ‘in the Spirit’.
Christ made it possible through his sacrifice for our sins on the cross and resurrection.
The grace we need to love Him is secured through trust in Christ Jesus the Savior, not through empty resolutions and countless efforts to achieve goodness.
In the wisdom of God’s love “...grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” (cf. John 1:17 CSB).
“But to all who did receive him, he gave them the right to be children of God, to those who believe in his name, who were born, not of natural descent, or of the will of the flesh, or of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1:12-13 CSB)
