Exclusive: Hanne Nabintu Herland decries the ongoing merging of private and public funds
Modern democracy is supposed to be elected politicians serving the interests of the nation state and its people.
Yet today, corporate control cancels the interests of the people. As the system is increasingly globalist-billionaire dominated, the West is dramatically changing.
I analyze this development in my new book, "The Billionaire World. How Marxism serves the Elite." The billionaire class has gained power over the democratic process through lavish private payments to NGOs, funding politicians and buying media corporations that now serve as its consolidated mouthpiece.
Think about it: An elected politician to the United States Congress may hold stocks in an oil company, Big Pharma, or the military industry – after having run for Congress with a campaign paid for by the very same group he now lobbies for.
At the same time, he or she may push for laws that deregulate that particular industry, causing certain stocks to soar, all the while buying stocks with the foreknowledge that the value will skyrocket as a result of the coming amendments, which open up the potential of amassing enormous wealth for the politician.

This is legal in the United States and has been one of the tools used to gain control over the government. The change came about by the 2010 Supreme Court decision to give private corporations, not only individuals, the right to pay for a politician's rise to power. Since then, the richest 0.01% have accounted for almost half of all campaign contributions through corporate donations.
The idea of democracy was "the rule of the people." Each constituency sent their representative to Congress to fight for the causes deemed important for its local citizens. By changing the system, allowing corporate funding of elected individuals, their allegiance change. Consequently, the separation of powers – one of the founding principles in a democracy – is greatly weakened. The ultra-rich own almost everything now, including the loyalty of our politicians.
The same corporations with non-elected powers over the democratic process also fund multitudes of politicized NGOs that are not so non-governmental or "non-political" any longer, thereby paying their way into controlling public funds.
For example, the World Health Organization (WHO). Billionaire investor Bill Gates is well-known for being its largest funder, after the U.S. government halted its payments in 2020. It gives him a remarkable position, and he is openly treated as a head of state. The close relationship between Gates and WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus is no secret, illustrated by Dr. Tedros calling the billionaire "my brother" in opening speeches.
"We're currently facing enormously powerful technocrats who are hell-bent on ushering the Great Reset, a World Economic Forum (WEF) plan, which will complete the ongoing transfer of wealth and resource ownership from the poor and middle classes to the ultra-rich," writes Dr. Joseph Mercola, adding, "By funding research and financing public institutions, Gates is able to force those institutions down a path where they can only use his patented intellectual property.
With the outside influences of entities like the WEF and Gates, the WHO has turned global health security into a dictatorship, where the director general has assumed sole power to make decisions that member states must abide by."
How hard is it to influence a politician to donate government money into private projects owned by the very same billionaires who aspire greater control over government funds?
The endless photographs of smiling government leaders shaking hands with Bill Gates, posing proudly with him and the world's richest men, tell the story of how easy it has become for the billionaire class to warm their entry into the pockets of taxpayer funds.
What happened to the free will of the people, independent politicians and national sovereignty? These ideals now seem to be long gone.
The combination of strong private corporations coupled with political socialist ideologies has pushed for a radical groupthink model in which the population is expected to agree with the consensus – not unlike that which we witnessed during the National Socialism in Germany before and during World War II.
Under socialism's flag of "protecting the worker," civil liberties nonetheless erode away, groupthink is implemented with authoritarian force, free speech is forcefully removed, and politicians under the strong influence of socialist rigidness become the state power's new elite – the administrators of state funds that the billionaire class has bought its access into.
Private capital heavily influencing the spending of public money is the very goal of the billionaire-flooded World Economic Forum. Through the Davos system, private capital merges with lucrative government funds, causing the rise of Western oligarchs and replacing the democratic rule of nation states.
