After a hearing littered with foul language and protests from the LGBTQ+ lobby, the Florida Medical Board voted unanimously to BAN all chemical and surgical “transgender treatments” for children under the age of 18.
Southern Legal Counsel’s Transgender Rights Initiative sent its director, Simone Chriss, to oppose the Florida Medical Board changes.
Chriss is known for her work in instructing public school teachers not to call children by their given names or biological sexes, but instead to “affirm” the children’s mental illness known as body dysphoria.
Parents are often completely unaware of the schools’ actions in such cases.
In her speech before the Florida Medical Board, Chriss claimed that “the overwhelming weight of evidence and science” shows that “access to treatment for gender dysphoria is safe, effective and medically necessary.”
“That’s not true,” retorted Florida Medical Board member Dr. Hector Vila, shooting down Chriss’ unscientific propaganda. “The literature is not clear.
There is not adequate evidence to support the use of therapies, the limited therapies, that we have said should not be used because of the irreversible harm.”
Having litigated and worked with expert counselors in this area for many years, I can tell you the momentum has shifted. Now is the time to push forward to protect our children. Dr. Vila is correct. There is much scientific, peer-reviewed evidence proving that so-called “gender transition,” whether by pharmaceutical chemicals or the surgical knife, are dangerous to both a child’s mental and physical health.
The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) itself recently released a warning that puberty blockers cause brain swelling and vision loss.
Meanwhile, a 2018 George Washington University study as well as a Dutch study published this year show that cross-sex hormone treatment results in staggeringly high rates of death from heart attack, deep vein thrombosis and strokes.
These children are also often prescribed pancreatic cancer treatment drugs that happen to grow breast tissue in men, despite the fact these drugs are not approved for children due to their propensity to cause liver failure.
The mental health of these individuals is at stake as well. “Experts” like Simone Chriss and Joe Biden’s Assistant Health Secretary Dr. Richard/Rachel Levine falsely continue to claim that children will kill themselves if their gender dysphoria is not “affirmed.”
But science proves that to be a lie, as well.
In fact, the longest running and largest study done to date on the long-term effects of gender transition, researchers concluded, “Persons with transsexualism, after sex reassignment, have considerably higher risks for mortality, suicidal behavior, and psychiatric morbidity than the general population.”

I could go on for some time citing study after study.
Thankfully, the wildly irrational claims by the trans-pushing LGBTQ+ lobby are crumbling.
In addition to Florida, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem signed a bill on Monday banning all chemical and surgical sex changes for children.
"South Dakota's kids are our future,” said Gov. Noem in a press release. “With this legislation, we are protecting kids from harmful, permanent medical procedures.
I will always stand up for the next generation of South Dakotans.”
Two weeks ago, Utah Governor Spencer Cox also signed a bill protecting children in his state from the trans agenda.
The bill immediately banned all chemical and surgical sex changes for children.
Studies show that 80-95% of children outgrow gender confusion. But in December, Joe Biden’s Assistant Health Secretary and transgender-in-chief Dr. Richard/Rachel Levine suggested that information that might dissuade parents from seeking sex changes for their children should be censored.
If Dr. Levine had his way, I would not be able to share these scientific facts with you today.
The Biden administration is not giving up on the trans-agenda either. Dr. Levine continues to promote these permanently damaging “services” to all children who request them, regardless of their parents’ desires.
In addition to our work with state legislatures and Congress, Liberty Counsel is protecting our children through the court system. Numerous cities and states around the country have banned Christian talk therapy for gender dysphoria and unwanted same-sex desires.
