YOU NEED ONLY TO BE STILL

“You Need Only to Be Still” by Keith Henry

“Moses answered the people,
'Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.'” (Exodus 14:13,14 NIV)

I woke this morning in crisis; my heart filled with one major dilemma, and my head filled with a million and one ways to respond to this crisis. From my knees, I begged God for answers.
I pleaded to hear His voice with a solution.
As I read from my Yearly Bible for my morning fill of the Word, Exodus 14:13,14 was in bold letters; in it, was the answer to my prayers.

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

The Hebrew word, "charash" can be translated: “to be still.”
There are, however, other meanings for the word as well, such as: “silence, ceasing, or holding your tongue.”
When faced with a crisis, our hearts and heads become inundated with “solutions;” we want to fix the problem ourselves.
We become overwhelmed, desperate, and afraid of not being delivered, so we may grab hold of some random solution which only bandages the issue.
Moses had the answer for handling the “Egyptians” in our lives:

“Do not be afraid. Stand firm; you need only be still.”

This is easier said than done, and is is the reason why silence should become a practiced discipline for the Hyperspiritual Christian.
Practice what works for you: a dark, quiet place, deep focus, and meditation works for me.
Learn to be silent and listen for God’s will to be spoken to you.
