Just weeks ago, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz met with American Jewish leaders to deliver devastating news. Iranian missiles and Iranian attack drones (UAVs) are now operating south of America’s border in Venezuela.
“In addition to developing Iranian UAVs in Venezuela, our assessments show that Iranian [precision-guided munitions] are being delivered for these UAVs and other similar models,” Gantz told the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations held in Jerusalem on February 22, 2022.
The missiles can carry two precision-guided munition units each, according to the Iranian Defense Ministry, and have the capability of reaching U.S. soil.
Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro announced he will soon visit Iran at the invitation of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.
“With this image in mind,” said Gantz, “I can tell you that in my meetings with partners from around the world, including African and Latin American partners, I heard extreme concern about Iranian support for terrorism.”
These Iranian UAVs are the same weapons Tehran has used to arm Yemen’s Houthi rebels in their multiple recent attacks on Abraham Accords countries, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the U.S. Embassy in Iraq.
Gantz informed the group of American Jewish leaders that the most important action that needs to be taken now is “stopping the development of [Iranian] ballistic missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads.”
“Enforcement and supervision by the IAEA [International Atomic Energy Agency] are crucial but not enough,” Gantz said. He noted that under the last Iran Deal, Iran increased “security” spending by 50% and used that money to fund terror around the globe.
But Joe Biden continues to chase the ayatollah’s skirts, all but abandoning our great ally Israel, and now endangering Americans at home as well.
It is now long past time for Congress to step up and put an end to Biden’s feckless appeasement campaign before Iran-funded and supplied terrorists can harm more Americans or Israelis here or in the Holy Land.
