PRAYER - FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD

Prayer

Sheriena McEvers

“That which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.” (1 John 1:3 NKJV).

What is prayer? Simply put:
(1) Prayer is worshiping and adoring God, the holy and incomprehensible One.
(2) Prayer is a conversation with God.
(3) Prayer is sharing our thoughts and concerns with God – while allowing God to share His thoughts and concerns with us.

How is it with you?
Do you struggle with prayer?
Would you like to go deeper?

Prayer is more than simply asking for things and giving thanks.
It is communicating.
It is sharing your innermost thoughts with your closest friend, and it’s your Friend sharing His innermost thoughts with you.

It’s God wanting to share His heart with you. What a privilege!
You can trust His thoughts will never mislead you or contradict His Word.
Rather, God will bring emphasis to His Word and enlighten your mind.

Think of it, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – God, three in One, who lives, moves, communicates, and acts as One, inviting us into this tri-fold fellowship through prayer.
We’ve been individually asked to join in the conversation and be a part of this unique union.

Jesus said in (John 14:23 ESV)

“If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.” Paul also describes in (Romans 8:11 NIV)

“And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you…”

(here recognizing the Spirit lives in us once we have received Jesus).
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — separate and yet One, dwelling within us as believers.
What an awesome privilege!

So go for a walk and talk with God.
Share with Him and let Him share with you — each and every day, making time for your ever present loving Father.

Prayer: Awesome God, I want a deeper communication with You, more than simply petitioning for things. Amen
