I AM CHRIST JESUS FRIEND

 I Am Christ’s Friend

Susan Barnes

“I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you” (John 15:15).

What is a friend?
A friend is someone who cares for you, who is interested in your life, wants the best for you, supports you in difficult times and makes sacrifices of time and effort to be with you.
This makes Jesus the best friend we’ll ever have.

As our adult children become independent, we find our relationship changes and they become more like friends.
They will always be our children but now we can discuss our concerns with them as adults.
Likewise, our relationship with God changes as we spiritually mature.
Jesus can trust us with his Father’s business.
His desire isn’t to dominate us or manipulate us but to treat us like friends.

If Jesus has chosen us to be his friend, how do we reciprocate?
We tell him that we love him.
We care about the people he has brought into our lives because we know he cares for them.
We draw near to him and are honest.
We tell him our doubts and our struggles with faith. Jesus knows what’s on our minds but sharing it with him clarifies our thoughts.
Sometimes, writing a letter to Jesus helps us to understand a problem better.
Since he’s a friend who made sacrifices of his time, his status and his life for us, we do likewise.
We make sacrifices so we can share fellowship with him.

Jesus has chosen us to be his friend so let’s be a friend to him.
