Las Vegas Mayor: Endless COVID Shutdown Powers Bestowed on Governors ‘Smacks of Tyranny’

Some Americans “have been forced to subjugate their freedoms to the will of a single individual, seemingly in perpetuity, which smacks of tyranny,” Las Vegas’ mayor said Wednesday, commenting on the one-year anniversary of the state’s economic shutdown imposed by Democrat Gov. Steve Sisolak.
On Wednesday, Mayor Carolyn Goodwin (I) posted the text of a statement she made at a City Council meeting earlier in the day, blasting Gov. Sisolak’s ongoing coronavirus-related shutdown of non-essential businesses, including the gaming industry.
Goodwin says it’s un-American, and tyrannical, for governors to rob citizens of their freedoms by assuming unilateral, unending “emergency” powers:
