In California, it's criminal in 90-plus percent of the state to worship in church, and that worship ban extends to 100 percent of homes with anyone who does not live there. Each violation is punishable by up to a year in prison and stiff fines. Governor Gavin Newsom's outrageous church closure laws are intolerable! 

That's why, tonight, we will be working after hours to file our Reply Brief at the U.S. Supreme Court dealing with Newsom's illegal, discriminatory restrictions. Enough is enough! 

The churches we represent, including the pastors, staff, and attendees face daily fines and jail -- for opening and attending CHURCH...here in America!

Here is Newsom's shocking nine-plus months of NO WORSHIP timeline:  

• March 19 -- May 26, 2020: No Worship. 
• May 27 -- July 12, 2020: 25% capacity but no more than 100 people. 
• July 13, 2020 -- Present: No worship for over 90% of California. 

Closing churches has literally killed people -- and I am not speaking of COVID itself. The very place where hurting people can turn in times of need has been closed or severely restricted.  

The CDC reported that 25.5% of young Americans ages 18-24 have seriously considered suicide. That is one out of every four! Compared to the same time period in 2019, every age and demographic group experienced shocking increases in depression, anxiety and suicide. Drug and alcohol abuse, pornography, domestic violence and child abuse -- are all off the charts since the closures began.  

There is ONLY one group that did not experience a decline in mental health during the COVID shutdowns -- people who regularly attend church. In fact, their mental health IMPROVED compared with 2019.

These shutdowns and illegal church closures aren't just killing people...they're killing freedom.  

The bedrock foundation of our freedom in America arises from our Judeo-Christian values. As Founding Father John Adams wrote in 1798:  

"We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." 

As lawless governors continue to illegally close churches, some members of Congress now seek to illegally impeach a private citizen. 

The core issue of the church closures is the same issue at the heart of the unconstitutional impeachment -- lawlessness.

Congress ONLY has the authority to impeach a president while he is in office. Congress has NO power to impeach or hold a trial to convict a private citizen. The Chief Justice has refused to preside over the Senate "impeachment" sham. Instead, in a banana republic-like move, Democrat Sen. Patrick Leahy will preside over the trial! I have no words -- other than "STOP IT!" 

With two church closure cases now before the Supreme Court (CA and IL) and multiple federal lawsuits defending religious liberty, in addition to all our other legal work, 2021 is going to be much busier than 2020.
