LET THE ONE WHO IS THIRSTY COME!

Jill Soto

Glory… Just the word is making my mouth water. Not my glory, not your glory, but the GLORY OF GOD. What does it look like? I know what it feels like… It feels like water welling up from deep inside and when you see it on me you see the tears that no longer fit inside falling from my eyes.

Where do you get it? Who can buy it? Only the poor and the needy have the money. Only the one who is lacking may come, buy and eat. They find it because they are looking, sniffing and following the wisps of reality that float through this empty atmosphere. They have exactly what they need to get through the door when they lift empty hands. He always opens for the poor.
Buy what you need with what you don’t have. Open your empty hands and admit your need. Taste and see... His words of life are honey. Go to the deep place of your heart where poverty lives and cries. Go to that place and pull from there all that you have left... It’s the hope that hasn’t died.
Pull from your poverty the last piece of hope and hand it to Jesus. Hand it to the Invisible King and wait… wait and see… wait with BELIEF. Hold fast, rely on the One who died so that He could love you tangibly, constantly and relentlessly.
He steps beyond the veil that hides His face and pours His life into your veins.
How do you know when you’ve met Him? You’ll feel peace in the midst of your storm. You’ll walk through the same game of life with new love, deep rest and a strange sense of satisfaction. When you feel this, you’ll know that He’s touched you.
Despite the shame of your need, He comes with greed. He’ll grab with a ruthless hand the dead heart that faints in your chest and bleeds. It’s His prize– It’s the reason He died.
He’s hungry and so are you. Open your mouth and be fed. Open your empty hand and He will open His. Until He grabs hold of you and you grab hold of Him, both of you are lacking. He’s hungry for your love… Are you hungry for His?
Let Him have what He craves. He’ll be satisfied as He devours your poverty and pain. And when you open your eyes to see what He left in return, you’ll find the same hands that were just begging, lifted toward heaven to touch, once more, the King who is now your utmost craving.
None of His servants are lacking— They lack no good thing.
But who would come to Jesus unless they needed Him. He is a mockery in this Earth. He escorts us into a life of losing so that our need will find Him. He’s strange. He leads us on an endless journey of letting go of the earthly so that we can grab the invisible things of Eternity.
The One who leads my soul walks by my side yet no one can see Him… He’s no longer imprisoned by flesh but still chooses to stay with mine. Only in the deepest recesses of my heart will I find Him. That is where He is waiting. I must go to the places that are empty, dig deep, past the scabs and wounds so that I can see where I am lacking, then I will hear Him knocking. I will pull back the last piece of skin and reach out for Him. I will extend an empty hand and wait... Soon it will overflow with fresh blood, fresh skin, fresh life and His Glory… my portion.
What will I find if I keep looking? What if I found Him and could see Him before I got to heaven? What if I could open His Scriptures and inhale the air of eternity? What if I could throw my weakness into the pages of His Book and remain helpless until the strength of His Word picked me up?
To wait in hopeful desperation for these things would be like believing in an Endless King. It would be like asking for a piece of impossibility to obliterate all of my possibilities.
And tell me again, what IS this GLORY? It’s that cloud, the NIMBUS – that lets down rain and dew and water when it passes through. It’s majesty and wealth that greedily consumes empty hearts and leaves a blessing behind. Yes, that is what I am waiting for... Jesus… the HOPE of Glory. (shred of my journal 2010)
The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. (Psalm 34:10)
Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and he with Me. (Revelation 3:20)
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. (Matthew 5:6)
The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want… (Psalm 23:1)
And the Spirit and the bride say, "Come." And let the one who hears say, "Come." And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost. (Revelation 22:17)
