WHY BOTHER?

Why Bother?

Marlene Custer

Are you having days when you question whether you should even get up or not?
Loss of job or broken relationships, or just not feeling well, can lead to feelings of depression and unworthiness.
You may be thinking, ‘why bother?’

Recently my thoughts went back to my early teen years.
Fitting in was so important—loafers with pennies and other fads that came and went.
One practice I remember was writing the name of my current interest on the palm of my hand.
Often, I neglected washing my hand because I didn’t want the ink to rub off.

Imagine my amazement several years later when my eyes fell on Isaiah 49:16. Scripture proclaims,

“See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands...”.

And what He engraves on His hands cannot be washed or worn off!

So don’t let these troublesome times make you anxious, wondering if you even matter anymore. Isaiah 41:13 promises,

“I am the Lord your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.”

Does that sound like He could forget about you? No! He does see you, and He does care.

Lift up your head.
Do not give in to discouragement. Jeremiah 31:3 is another promise that God loves you with an everlasting love!

Jesus, it is so easy to let the cares of this life squeeze out my joy and a sense of purpose.
Help me to keep reading your Word and keep my eyes focused on You.
I thank you that you love me with an everlasting love and will never forget me.
