THE PURPOSE FOR PRAYER

Purpose for Prayer

Robert Schaetzle

God wants us to lean on Him, and prayer is one of the best ways to let Him know we trust Him.

In my quiet moments every day alone in prayer, I recognize the greater value of being still, to listen to the One who knows all, more than to call out to God with anxiousness in my heart.

I know God already knows what I need and what is best for me.

He is always at work in me.

His purpose, not mine!

‘For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. Philippians 2:13 NKJV

I know my life is worthy through Jesus, my living hope.

When I pray, I like to thank Him for the abundance of truth and love His presence reveals to me.

I often meditate on a favorite passage or promise from His word as I begin.

Purposing my prayer moments this way helps me recognize the Lord’s preeminence in my life.

This humble posture of belief and trust brings His wisdom, peace, and the calm assurance I seek.

We must remember that our hope through prayer is for the present, not the past.

Our Lord encourages us not to hang on to what was but to press forward to what He has in store for us.

We simply trust and believe as we cast all of our cares upon Him.

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead. Philippians 3:13 NIV

Through our prayers, Father, enable us to recognize your purpose and blessing as we seek things above. Amen
