THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME

GOAT
Anna Darlene Edmondson

"I always do the things that please my Father" (John 8:29 KJV)

By nature, we possess a strong desire to be more successful than others.

However, as with any earthly goal, popularity often brings emptiness and a proud heart.

A glimpse into the world of sports sheds light on the hidden dangers of intense competitiveness.

Currently, a popular cliché consumes our sports industry.

In detail, the letters GOAT stand for the Greatest Of All Time.

Notably, it began with a boxer named Cassius Clay.

By changing his name to Muhammed Ali, he hoped to intimidate or bully his opponents.

Ali's mantra became "I float like a butterfly and sting like a bee because I am the greatest."

In reality, achieving GOAT status fades with the morning dew.

Inevitably, stardom vanishes, and the next 'greatest' takes the spotlight, if only for a fleeting moment.

To contrast, contemplate with me if you will.

What made Jesus the greatest LEADER of all time? Two words:

"He Followed." He obeyed His Father's plan all the way to Calvary's cross.

"He who sent me is true and reliable and I tell the world only the things that I have heard (learned) from Him." John 8:26 (Amp)

As we follow Jesus, we learn the art of teaching others the word of God and influence them to follow Jesus by our example.

We expound to them the glory of our permanent home in heaven, where our treasure waits, and our hearts are focused.

We do not lose heart but stay the course of our appointed mission.

We please Jesus and the Father, as we keep our minds on God's absolute promises and the purpose set before us.

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations and I am with you to the end."
