THE CHURCH IN PERGAMUM

Revelation 2:12-17

12 To the Angel of the Church in Pergamum write:

These are the words of Him

Who has the Sharp, Double-edged Sword.

13 I know where you live—where Satan has his Throne.

Yet you remain true to My Name,

You did not Renounce your Faith in Me,

Even in the days of Antipas, My Faithful Witness,

Who was put to death in your city—where Satan lives.

14 Nevertheless, I have a few things against you:

You have people there who hold to the Teaching of Balaam,

Who taught Balak to entice the Israelites

To sin by eating food Sacrificed to Idols

And by committing Sexual Immorality .

15 Likewise you also have those

Who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans.

16 REPENT THEREFORE!

OTHERWISE, I WILL SOON COME TO YOU

AND FIGHT AGAINST THEM

WITH THE SWORD OF MY MOUTH.

17 HE WHO HAS AN EAR

LET HIM HEAR WHAT THE SPIRIT SAYS TO THE CHURCHES.

TO HIM WHO OVERCOMES,

I WILL GIVE SOME OF THE HIDDEN MANNA.

I WILL ALSO GIVE HIM A WHITE STONE

WITH A NEW NAME WRITTEN ON IT,

KNOW ONLY TO HIM WHO RECIEVES IT.

(Revlation 2:12-17)

The sharp double-edged sword is the Word of God,

Who is Christ Jesus

The Impeccable Judge of all things.

The Church of Pergamum

Is in the city where Satan resides and has his Throne.

In spite of this,

The Church of Pergamum has remained true to Christ Jesus,

Even though their leader

Was put to death by Satan's emissaries.

However, within the Pergamum Church,

There are those deceived,

Who hold to the Teaching of Balaam

And are involved in Idol worship and Sexual Immorality.

Some also, are involved

With the Teaching of the Nicolaitans

And their Idol worship and Worldliness.

Christ Jesus warns them that unless they Repent,

He will come and fight against them,

Revealing them for what they are.

Christ Jesus calls for those of us who have an ear,

To hear what He is saying to the Churches.

Those who Overcome the Deception of Satan,

Will receive some of the Hidden Manna,

The Bread of LIFE.

They will also receive a White Stone

With a New Name written on it,

Known only to him who receives it.

The White Stone represents the Holiness

That Christ Jesus imparts to His own;

The New Name is symbolic of the Intimate

And Personal Relationship

Between each Saint and Christ Jesus.

Each of us will have a name

(A nick name given us by Christ),

That is only known by Christ and ourselves.

Today, there are those who believe

They can follow Christ Jesus

And do as they please,

And those who have many Idols

That they honor above God and His Word.

From the very beginning of the Church

There have been those who claim

They can live as they please

And remain in the favor of God.

This, is of course, a Lie from the Deception of the Devil.
