GOD'S MESSENGER

God’s Messenger
Jennifer Woodley

“Very truly, I tell you, whoever receives one whom I send receives me…” John 13:20 (NRSV)

There are those who come into our lives who are messengers from God.

At first, we may not recognize them.

But if we pay attention, we may hear words straight from the mouth of God.

When we receive them, we are receiving the very pearls of wisdom that are needed to bring guidance and direction to our lives.

But how do we recognize God’s messenger?

Listen closely to the spirit of those words.

Do they bring peacefulness and joy?

Jesus’ true messenger speaks words that are not loud, pushy or compulsive.

They are not the words of a bully.

They are warm, but firm, calm and confident.

Any word that bears an opposite spirit is not the voice of God.

The content of a word that is from God’s messenger will always conform to and be consistent with the truths about God’s nature and kingdom that are made clear in the Bible.

Any claim or content that doesn’t conform to Biblical content is not a word from God.

Finally, when a messenger speaks God’s words, they will have an impact in our consciousness that draws us to say, “Yes, this is true and right.”

When God’s true messenger speaks there is a serene weight of authority in those words that leaves no doubt in our mind.

Whom is God sending to us right now that we need to pay attention to?

What words of life are we hearing that we need to heed?

May God open our ears and heart to the message He is bringing to us.

Receive His messenger and we receive Christ Himself.
