This stay-at-home order can be a bit daunting sometimes. This is especially true for those of us who suddenly find ourselves stepping in as teachers to little ones. Taking over the education of a child mid-school-year is no small task. Parents are now teachers for math, writing, reading, geography, and every other subject imaginable. Add that to being a Sunday school teacher, and anyone would get exhausted.
Now I can’t help with the math lessons, but I can offer a little advice: One of the best ways to connect with children is through stories. Storytime is an age-old tradition that engages a child’s imagination and presents big truths in an easily understandable way.
To help fuel your storytime, we are giving a children’s book set to anyone who donates to Harvest this month. In this set, you will find Sally Lloyd-Jones’ books, Found and Loved. These books present Psalm 23 and the Lord’s Prayer in fresh and insightful ways to both children and adults. Use this storytime to open up conversations with the children in your life about biblical topics.
With teaching little ones, quality time is quantity time! It will be challenging, and I promise your patience will be tested, but with perseverance and a whole lot of love, you can do it.
