The House of Representatives didn’t follow the law “in very significant and important respects” in its impeachment of President Donald Trump, White House Counsel Patrick Philbin said Monday in closing remarks at the Senate impeachment trial.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) did not have the authority to declare an impeachment authority without a House vote and “the House violated every principle of due process and fundamental fairness in the way the hearings were conducted,” Philbin told the Senate:
