The Day and the Hour?

Hey, want to know my great theological revelation that everybody else probably already knew but me? Who doesn’t want to know when Jesus is returning in “like manner as you (His followers) saw Him go? (Acts 1: 11).

I just discovered why nobody knows the day or hour, not even Jesus Himself according to His own words (Matthew 24: 36).

Because the day and hour have not yet been set by the Father. 

How do I know that? 

Peter tells us that believers can Hasten the coming of the Lord. (2 Pet. 3: 12). 

The word hasten comes from the word haste, which means "excessive speed or urgency." 

The words hurry and hasten are synonyms. 

Hasten can also mean "to make happen quickly," like when you open a window in the kitchen when you are cooking to hasten the room's cooling down.

KJV: and hasting unto the coming
INT: expecting and hastening the coming

If believers, who are working diligently to spread the Good News about the Kingdom of God, can hasten His coming, it is obvious that the hour of the event is not carved in stone. 

Only the Father knows when the “gospel has been preached to the whole world, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24: 14).

Let’s get busy in 2020 and bring the Lord back. 

Father, thank You for the power of the Holy Spirit to enable believers to be Your witnesses. Put Your words in my mouth this coming New Year and lead me to those people who are thirsting for living water. Amen.
