JACK HAYFORD MINISTRIES
Dear Friend,
When I see a sunrise, I am reminded of who I am as a believer and why I’m here on this earth. The miracle of the sun rising for another day is a physical display of God’s power to conquer darkness, and the fact that it happens morning after morning is nature’s declaration of His faithfulness to conquer darkness.
The horizon at daybreak is the line where heaven meets earth, and it testifies daily to mankind about God’s faithfulness. As believers, we are “people of the horizon.” We stand between the promises and provisions of heaven and the hurts and harms of earth. Our actions determine what of heaven is released on earth.
On heaven’s side of this line, God’s will is that “all men be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.” (2 Timothy 2:4) Our loving Father wants the darkness of sin to be conquered, and every person to receive His abundant life. However, for God’s will to be done on earth, as it is in Heaven, requires our obedience.
Loved one, Jesus said,
“Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” (Luke 12:32)
When Jesus said for us to “fear not,” He called us His “little flock.” That is not exactly a compliment, because sheep are not particularly intelligent animals. Sheep tend to be so helpless that they need someone to constantly watch over them, having a tendency to wander off and get lost and are vulnerable to attack. When Jesus tells us that it is the Father’s good pleasure to give us the Kingdom, He calls us helpless sheep.
Jesus is wanting to reassure us that nothing could stop Him from saving us, even though we were once lost in sin and strayed from Him. We don’t have to worry about what lies ahead. All we have to do is depend on the Good Shepherd and follow where He leads. We will be able to do everything we have been created and called to do—by His power and under His protection. It is our Father’s good pleasure to give His Kingdom to His children.
The word ‘give’ suggests the idea of pressing a gift into someone’s hand. It reminds me of something my mother did for me as a child. To prevent me from playing with the coins and inadvertently losing them, she would tie them in a handkerchief and then press them into my hands. When it was time for the offering, the coins were ready for me to give.
I believe this is what Jesus had in mind when He used this word for give. Our Heavenly Father is pressing His Kingdom resources firmly into our small, inadequate hands, and telling us, “Here, my child, take this and don’t be afraid. You won’t drop or lose what you need to do my will. Just go and give whenever the need arises.”
These needs represent the same needs that we encounter today: family members facing critical, seemingly hopeless situations and individuals trapped in situations that drain away their strength and steal the promise of the dawn.
Please remember, Loved One, Jesus, is the Eternal King, and wherever the King is, there also is His Kingdom. Because Jesus has come to dwell within us as believers, we can declare with confidence that the King and His power is alive within us!
You see, we really are “people of the horizon!” God has truly pressed His kingdom into our hands and given us the ability to bring His power, light, and love into this world. When we encounter needs that are too great for us to meet in our own human capacity, we can access our Father’s Kingdom resources to meet those needs.
And then, when we link arms with other believers, we do even more as partners to fulfill God’s purposes than we could ever do on our own. I still see so much more for us to do! It is my prayer, Loved One, that you will link arms with me, so that we can partner together to bring God’s Kingdom to earth—to bring spiritual sunrises as “People of the Horizon” to those in darkness.
Your fellow Person of the Horizon,
Pastor Jack
