LIBERTY UNIVERSITY TEACHING NEW AGE PRACTICES

Liberty University Teaching New Age Practices: Doctrines of Demons

The first part of this article will cover the distressing news that Liberty University is indoctrinating their students with devilish New Age practices.  This is what the Bible calls “Doctrines of Demon.”
This particular New Age practice is Enneagram of Personalities.
“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron” (1 Timothy 4: 1-2).
This is the presentation given at Liberty U. for its students:
Brethren, I wrote an article on Enneagrams a while back. I am going to use that article here to show the reader how mystical and New Age this practice truly is.
Sometimes I just have to shake my head in disbelief.
What exactly is Enneagram of Personalities?
The author of the book entitled “The Sacred Enneagram” Christopher Heuertz explains Enneagram this way:
“The Enneagram illustrates the nine archetypal human character structures, the nine beautifully flawed ways of being us.”
Beautifully flawed?  I believe that the Bible is quite clear when it calls our “flaws”  by their proper name:  SIN.
Mr. Heuertz said that a friend of his put it this way:
“One of my teachers, Russ Hudson says, “Type isn’t a ‘type’ of person, but a path to God.” I believe it’s sacred because as a map of our soul it’s a compassionate sketch of possibilities. The Enneagram is less about nine “types of people” and more about nine paths back to our true selves and nine paths to divine love.”
Nine paths to divine love?  Can it be any more clear that this is NEW AGE rubbish?  There is one way to God and that is through His Son Jesus Christ.
Why would Christians want to follow something that is so obviously New Age? Where is the discernment?  (how many times have I asked this?)
Is our Bible not enough?
Okay, lets begin with what Enneagram of Personality is about.
The “Enneagram” is an ancient system of unknown origin with a strange name. It is replete with sacred language, but is not explicitly Christian in orientation. It centers on nine personality types that are arranged into a chart resembling a pentagram. Yet, it is spreading like wildfire among a diverse range of Jesus-followers.
Again, shaking my head.
In 1990, Franciscan Fr. Richard Rohr effectively Christianized the system for Americans when he published “The Enneagram: A Christian Perspective” in English. This sparked a growing interest that slowly crept into church pulpits and small groups. In 2016, Christianity Today published “An Evangelical’s Guide to the Enneagram” after Intervarsity Press became the first evangelical publisher to release a book on the topic.
To understand why the Enneagram is so alluring, I sat down with Chris Heuertz, author of “The Sacred Enneagram: Finding Your Unique Path to Spiritual Growth.” Heuertz is the co-founder of The Gravity Centerand has been mentored by sages such as Rohr and Mother Teresa. He conducts Enneagram workshops around the world and is something of an Enneagram master, though I imagine he would resist such a label. Here, we discuss why the Enneagram is captivating so many Christians and how he responds to its critics. source

Does the Enneagram of Personality contradict the Bible?
Answer: What is known as the “Enneagram of Personality” or the “Traditional Enneagram” is a complex system of understanding individuals that touts itself as the most dynamic and open of the various typologies and also offers itself as a path to liberation or self-actualization.
Brethren, a Christian who reads the Word of God should get their first clue that this is not godly, but is very mystical and New Age, by reading the words “Path to liberation” and “Self -actualization.”
The Enneagram is a geometric symbol containing nine points and nine (or more) intersecting lines (the Greek word for “nine” was ennea). The symbol dates back to Pythagoras and was introduced to the West by George Gurdjieff in the 1900s. In the 1960s, Oscar Ichazo linked the symbol with nine different personality types. Ichazo taught a system of 108 Enneagrams, but the ones that caught on in the United States were those of the Passions, the Virtues, the Fixations, and the Holy Ideas. Ichazo’s aim was to explain the difference between Essence and personality (or ego). He believed every person is, in his Essence, perfect and in unity within himself as well as with the cosmos. However, the Essence is distorted into the ego. Ichazo saw the Ennegram as a way to examine how that distortion occurs.
“He believed every person is, in his Essence, perfect and in unity within himself as well as with the cosmos.”  New Age philosophy and mystical teachings ooze out of  this sentence.  First of all, we are not perfect until we are made so by the Lord Jesus Christ. Secondly, we are not in “unity” with ourselves or with the cosmos.  These are glaringly NEW AGE terminologies  and it boggles my brain that a child of God would fall for this!
Can’t you just look at the graphic of the nine personalities and see Satan at work?
There are a variety of modern theories regarding the Enneagram. The current Enneagram of Personality comes from Claudio Naranjo’s expansion of Ichazo’s work with later expansions made by Don Riso and Russ Hudson. The idea of nine personality types is based on the concept of the nine divine forms (Plato and, later, Plotinus), the seven deadly sins, and Kabbalah traditions. Ichazo was influenced by many religious and philosophical traditions including mystical Judaism (Kabbalah), Christianity, BuddhismIslamTaoism, and Greek philosophy. Thus, the Enneagram of Personality is a synthesis of many different ideas.
Kabbalah should jump out at the child of God as evil and therefore not good for those of us who are born again believers. The Enneagram is taken from many religions – another red flag – Christianity is not taken from many religions.  We are followers of Jesus Christ and His Word. Period.
There is an obvious spiritual danger associated with the Enneagram of Personality. When viewed as a religion unto itself or a means by which to achieve some sort of spiritual liberation, the Enneagram obviously contradicts the Bible. It “has a form of godliness but den[ies] its power” (2 Timothy 3:5). The Enneagram Institute is correct that we are spiritual beings and we are not living as we were meant to. But the solution is not to get in touch with our “true nature”; it is to cry out to God for salvation. We are sinners in need of God’s forgiveness (Romans 3:236:23), which is made available by His grace through faith in Jesus (Ephesians 2:8–9). Those who are dead in sin (Ephesians 2:1) cannot achieve a spiritual awakening on their own; they must receive the life of Christ—regardless of their personality type. In Christ we are born again and made new (2 Corinthians 5:17). It is through His power at work in us that we become righteous (Philippians 1:62 Corinthians 3:18). Our lives are meant to be lived for His glory.
This truly shows how this evil practice contradicts the Holy Word of God:
The Enneagram Institute is correct that we are spiritual beings and we are not living as we were meant to. But the solution is not to get in touch with our “true nature”; it is to cry out to God for salvation. We are sinners in need of God’s forgiveness (Romans 3:236:23), which is made available by His grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

Brethren – those of you who have fallen for this New Age rubbish, really need to repent of this and ask God’s forgiveness.
The Gifts of the Holy Spirit
The gifts of the Holy Spirit which are given to the children of God for the edification of the Body of Christ are all we need to know about ourselves. We each have a primary gift, but we may also be given other gifts by the Holy Spirit.
“There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord.  And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all.  But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:  for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit,  to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit,  to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another differentkinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills”  (1 Corinthians 12:4-11).
Please read once more this passage of the aforementioned Scripture:
“But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all.”
Is it not clear that the Holy Spirit is equipping us with gifts for the edification of the entire body of Christ?
Satanic terms
Red flags should go up when the child of God sees these terms and phrases:
  • Self Actualization
  • Balance
  • Oneness with the Universe or Cosmos
  • Universalism
  • Spiritual Liberation
  • Unity within oneself
  • Self Knowledge
  • Embracing One’s flaws
If a Christian is not wearing the full armor of God, and is not being a “Berean” they will fall prey to the devil and his schemes so quickly and so easily.  So it does not shock me that Christians are flocking to this New Age and very Satanic practice.
Brethren, if you or someone you know is into this New Age practice of Enneagram of Personalities – please come away from it and renounce it as Sin.  Confess to our Lord that you were deceived into believing this.  He understands!  Also ask Him for discernment so that you will be protected from Satan’s schemes.
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places”  (Ephesians 6:12).
Shalom b’Yeshua
MARANATHA!
