Funny thing, Friend.
I was having chest pains the other day, and since I know a guy who recently had a heart attack, my mind immediately went there.
So I googled “chest pains” and up came symptoms of a heart attack, which included nausea.
Of course, the moment I read it, I felt nauseated.
So I got on the phone and told my doctor, “I think I might be having a heart attack!”
Turns out my heart was fine. I had just bruised my chest playing racquetball. But it’s funny how I had psyched myself into thinking the worst. Why do we let fear, worry, and anxiety hijack our minds?
Take a look at these stats:
- 45% of American adults report feeling “a lot” of worry on a given day.
- Anxiety disorders affect 40 million American adults each year.
- 75–90% of visits to the doctor are stress-related complaints.
- Only 8% of things people fear or worry about are legitimate concerns.
Problems stemming from fear, worry, and anxiety are on the rise in today’s society, especially among young people. It’s an epidemic that must be addressed. That’s the primary reason I’ve written a new book on the topic: God’s Answer to Fear, Anxiety, and Worry.
We’re giving this book to anyone who donates to Harvest Ministries this month. Most importantly, you will be part of bringing the Good News of Jesus Christ to so many who need it.
