Facing Increased Persecution
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is leading a push to make India a purely Hindu nation, just won a second term. Under his first five-year term, Christians experienced an increase in persecution. More believers — including many VOM-supported front-line workers — were arrested on false charges of “forced conversions.”

Despite increasing persecution, the church in India is experiencing incredible growth. After centuries of Hinduism and its caste system, Indians are hungry for the hope and freedom that come through knowing Jesus Christ. At the same time, God is preparing thousands of people to help grow his kingdom. Will you support them?

Despite the increased persecution, our Indian brothers and sisters are continuing to live out their faith with boldness and faithfulness. One such brother in Christ, 92-year-old Jatya, has been beaten eight times for sharing the gospel. His village is heavily populated with paid informants for the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a nationalistic organization seeking a purely Hindu nation. After he heals from a beating, Jatya grabs his Bible and heads back out into his Hindu village to help advance God’s kingdom.

As believers like Jatya continue to fulfill God’s Great Commission, VOM stands with them and provides the tools they need to continue their kingdom work. For those who go from village to village sharing the gospel, VOM supplies Bibles, tracts and instruments for worship. For brothers and sisters injured in violent attacks, VOM helps with medical expenses and offers prayer and encouragement. And for those who have lost family members, VOM provides housing and education expenses for their children.

God is at work in India and it’s exciting, yet the advance of his kingdom comes at a price. Praise God for the faithful witness of his saints in India.
