On Memorial Day, our nation honors those who not only served, but who gave the full measure of valor -- their very lives -- for this great nation.
It is important for Americans to understand that these men and women gave everything serving this country and defending a Constitution that guarantees freedom for all people inside these United States.
When our Founding Fathers assembled in Philadelphia to write the amendments of the Constitution in May of 1787, the First Amendment gave us religious freedom, followed by freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and the right to assemble peacefully. The Second Amendment also gave us freedom: the freedom to keep and bear arms. Those were the two most important issues to our Founding Fathers.
Today, those two issues are under an all-out assault.
Men and women who serve in the military, and those who died, have fought to preserve our freedoms. But if Americans don't rally together and do all they can to stop the erosion of those two liberties, it will not be long before we lose them all.
America desperately needs a revival of moral courage. People committed to biblical values must start speaking out and standing firm for the principles in which they believe. We prepare for battle by knowing what we believe and why. We then demonstrate moral courage by being willing to stand and be counted in these perilous times.
Our nation is in crisis, as evidenced by the increasing number of conservative and Christian families coming under attack from the radical Left.
The number one task at Family Research Council is to protect religious liberty, and we do that every day. We understand that a return to America's biblical foundations are desperately needed to create a culture where all human life is valued, families flourish, and religious liberty thrives.
