Dear Friend,
You and I live in an America that the Founding Fathers wouldn't recognize.
While those patriots likely would be impressed by how far our nation has advanced industrially, technologically, and militarily, I'm sure they would be shocked and dismayed by the condition of our culture brought about by the constant and coordinated attacks on what they deemed our First Freedom, the freedom of religion.
I firmly believe that the signers of the Declaration of Independence and the framers of the U.S. Constitution would be appalled by the current undermining of faith, family, and freedom that occurs at every level of our government.
The Left's near-total rejection of biblical values is in no way consistent with what was intended for our great nation.
In his 1796 farewell address, President George Washington (the father of our country) said,
"Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports." While John Adams, America's second president and a committed Christian, rightly acknowledged, "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people." In 1782, Thomas Jefferson, our third president and the man most responsible for the eloquence of the Declaration of Independence, wrote:
"The convention of May 1776, in their declaration of rights, declared it to be a truth, and a natural right, that the exercise of religion should be free."
Even fellow patriot Benjamin Franklin, a proclaimed deist, acknowledged,
"The moral and religious system which Jesus Christ transmitted to us is the best the world has ever seen, or can see."
When these great men and so many others like them pledged their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to give birth to these United States nearly 242 years ago, I'm sure none of them envisioned forces emerging inside our republic that would threaten the very foundational freedoms guaranteeing every American's "unalienable Right" to "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." But that's where our nation finds itself today.
Christian bakers, florists, and photographers are being attacked, ostracized, and punitively punished for remaining steadfast in recognizing that marriage is a holy and sacred institution meant to be entered into by one man and one woman.
Valedictorians at public high schools are prohibited from acknowledging God and even threatened by federal judges with jail if they pray during their graduation-ceremony speeches.
Military chaplains and law enforcement personnel are reprimanded and/or removed from service for daring to live by and share their Christian beliefs.
It's time to remove religious liberty from the "crosshairs" of the emboldened Left.
That's why FRC recently launched STAND 2018. Our charter membership drive challenges our friends, partners, and donors to stand with others who express a biblical worldview related to faith, family, and freedom issues.
STAND 2018 also seeks to share testimonies of bold, counter-cultural resolve and build an engaged partnership group to stand with us to protect and promote biblical truth.
But to do that, we urgently need the faithful prayers and generous financial support of friends like you. Our goal is to raise $4.7 million before June 30 to fund FRC's ongoing vision of a culture where all human life is valued, families flourish, and religious liberty thrives. Go here to help now. Please STAND WITH US at this crucial point in our nation's history. Your prayers and financial partnership will help us advance biblical values in America. Please click here to join STAND 2018 now by supporting FRC with your tax-deductible donation of $17, $42, $84, or more. Thank you, in advance, for your prayers and gifts.
Standing (Eph. 6:13),
