Brotherhood Leader in France: Goal Is to Seize Power

The 35th annual Muslims of France convention was held during Easter weekend at Le Bourget convention center. Curiously, the event always takes place at Easter, even though this is a movable feast in the Christian calendar. It is attended by 150,000-200,00 people annually.
The convention is organized by Musulmans de France (Muslims of France), formerly the UOIF (Union of French Islamic Organizations), the French arm of the Muslim Brotherhood. It includes a souk (bazaar), a youth area, a competition on memorization of the Koran and a lecture theater.
The list of past speakers reads like a who’s who of radical Islam and includes controversial figures such as Yousuf al-Qaradawi, whose extremist writings and speeches led to him being banned from entry to the USA (1999), the UK (2008) and France (2012). He was convicted in absentia by Egypt in 2013 and is currently the object of an Interpol arrest warrant for incitement to and assistance in assassination, among other crimes.

This year one of the most popular stands is devoted to collecting funds to support Islamic theologian Tariq Ramadan, currently in a French prison awaiting trial for rape.
The president of Muslims of France, Amar Lasfar, is a native of Morocco who arrived in France as a student in 1960.
French publisher Ring recently posted a video on YouTube of a speech made by Lasfar in 1994 (see below in French) on the topic of proselytism, in which he outlined the master plan of the Muslim Brotherhood to conquer the West.
After asserting that proselytism is not a choice but rather a duty that sharia (Islamic) law imposes on all Muslims, he asks the rhetorical question, “What do we want in this land of the West?”
Before answering the question, he claims that Jews answered the same question for themselves “from the moment they set foot in the West.”
“They submitted the West, the laws of the West and the wealth of the West to the service of an existential cause, namely their presence on this earth.”
He continues by complaining that Muslims worry about whether their presence among the unbelievers is licit or illicit. He then points out that the Western notion of religion is diametrically opposed to science, and as a result, that Westerners are obliged to combat Islam, which they see as wanting to drag them backwards by several centuries. He proposes Islamization as an alternative to democracy and a path towards self-determination for Muslims.
“We will succeed in conveying the message of Allah by a coup d’état. By a political plan of work consisting of infiltrating city councils and parliaments in order to seize power. Following this, the message of Allah will prevail.”
Lasfar went on to criticize the use of armed force to impose Islam, not because it is intrinsically wrong, but because it is not tactically appropriate.
“Some Muslims think that the message of Allah can be imposed by force. There are armed groups that some people describe as extremists, who use violence and believe that there is no other option than violence to seize power and proclaim Islam.”
His “ambiguous” attitude to Islamic terrorism is clarified in what follows:
“This option is not the right one. Force that is improperly used, or not used at the right time and in the right place, becomes a flaw that provokes discord.”
One is reminded of the speech by Danny Morrison at the 1991 annual conference of Sinn Féin, the political wing of the IRA:
“Who here really believes we can win the war through the ballot box? But will anyone here object if, with a ballot paper in this hand and an Armalite in the other, we take power in Ireland?“
Like the IRA, the political and military strategies of political Islam work towards the same objective – the seizure of power.
