FRIEND, A number of high-profile American Olympians have been praised by the mainstream media—for smearing President Trump and demeaning the American people on the International stage in PyeongChang. But one Olympian deserves our respect for a different reason: for affirming her faith in Jesus Christ. Kelly Clark, 34, just finished competing in her fifth Winter Olympic Games as a snowboarder in PyeongChang. And even though she fell just short of medaling this year (she came in 4th place in the women’s half-pipe), her career is already legendary: Kelly has already won three medals—including a gold medal in 2002 in Salt Lake City, the first-ever gold medal for the U.S. in a snowboarding competition. It was just after she won that gold medal, when she was 18-years-old, that Kelly said she found her faith in Jesus Christ. Despite being on top of the world, what she remembers was words spoken to one of her competitors, who had wiped out on the half-pipe and fallen short of winning a medal. That competitor was told: “It’s all right. God still loves you.” That phrase stuck with Kelly—enough that she later asked that competitor to teach her about Jesus Christ and the Christian faith. Kelly says that’s the day, at the 2002 Winter Olympics, that she became a Christian. And, to this day, she’s proud of her faith, even sporting a sticker on her snowboard that reads, “Jesus, I cannot hide my love.” “Through my relationship with God, I learned who I was, and was comfortable in who I was,” she said. “But I’ll tell you: I’ve never had more fun snowboarding and I’ve never been more free.” Without her faith, she added, her “world would have come crumbling down.” Too often this year, the mainstream media has lauded Olympians for espousing liberal talking points: for refusing to meet President Trump, for smearing Vice President Pence, for denigrating the country they represent on the international stage. Olympians like Kelly Clark aren’t the media darlings that the far-left loves to cheer on. But she’s a woman who is steadfast in her beliefs and her faith. And, most importantly, she’s an Olympian our nation can be proud to have representing America. Ralph P.S. Faith & Freedom Coalition is working tirelessly to defend our faith and our values and to fight back against the far-left’s anti-Christian bigotry. But we can’t continue to do so without your help. Can we count on you? Please pitch in $23—or even $35—to Faith & Freedom Coalition, right away. Help us continue to fight back. |
Christ Jesus prayed that all those who would believe in Him would be ONE, just as He and the Father are ONE; that they be brought to complete unity so that the world would know that He was sent by the Father. (John 17:20-23)
