WOMAN ALLEGEDLY REPEATEDLY RAPED AND IMPREGNATED BY HER UNCLE

HARROWING: Woman Allegedly Repeatedly Raped And Impregnated By Her Uncle Sees Him Granted Visitation Rights

A woman who was molested by her uncle starting at the age of 12 and later repeatedly raped, impregnated four times, losing one child to a genetic disorder because of the incest, and losing another child through miscarriage, is fighting to deny the monster visitation rights for the two surviving children after a judge granted the rapist visitation rights over Christmas.

As Save The 1 president Rebecca Kiessling (seen above), who was conceived in rape herself, writes in LifeNews, the woman’s story is harrowing. Kiessling begins by noting the urgency for Alabama to pass The Rape Survivor Child Custody Act, which would terminate the parental rights of rapists and suspend any custody or visitation. She continues with the woman’s story, which the rape survivor posted on the Save The 1 blog, titling it, “From Age 13, My Uncle Raped and Impregnated Me, But The Judge Said It’s Irrelevant.”

The woman alleged that her uncle, her mother’s brother, who was 19 and married with a two-year-old son, first approached her on Y2K New Year’s Eve. The woman’s mother had permitted the uncle’s family to move, and moved them into the 12-year-old girl’s bedroom, since her three sisters were already sharing a room.

As the uncle argued more and more with his wife, the woman stated, the wife and son moved away, leaving her at the mercy of her uncle when she was 13 and he was 20. The women stated that he started molesting her; her mother and stepfather were reticent to speak out because the grandfather, who had molested the mother and her sisters when they were children, would have killed someone. He had already reportedly threatened the mother with a gun to her head when he discovered she had told someone of her own past.

The woman wrote, “So my mom would tell me, ‘It happened to me. I just needed to suck it up.’” Although child services visited the home after a phone call alerting them what was going on, the mother and uncle denied the allegations.

The woman stated that she got pregnant at 14, but miscarried after turning 15; she noted that the doctor never made a call to child services, and never asked who the father was. The mother moved to Florida with the grandfather, leaving the woman with her uncle. She got pregnant again at 15; she bore a son who is now 14.

The woman recalled she withdrew from school and homeschooled through 10th grade, while the abuse from the uncle intensified. She wrote, “He would choke me, sling me around by my hair, try to crash the car with us in it, and beat me. I would go to my mom’s and beg her to help me leave -- to get away from him. She would tell me that we had children together, and if anyone found out the "secret," I would go to jail and my kids would be taken away. She convinced me of this and I believed her. I’ve kept this secret until now.”

At 18, the woman became pregnant again; the son who was born was diagnosed with KrabbeDisease, which results from a defective gene from both parents. The woman recalled the doctors asking if she and the father were related; the woman was too terrified to speak up because the uncle was present and her mother had convinced her that her children would be removed. By the time the boy was diagnosed, the woman was six months pregnant in her fourth pregnancy.

The child with Krabbe disease died January 9, 2008, triggering the woman to look for a job immediately. She stated that the uncle demanded they marry on January 22; the woman even allegedly heard him cocking his shotgun.

She filed for divorce in 2008, but was abandoned by her family; she became homeless, leaving her sons in the legal custody of the uncle for two years. She could only see them twice a year. She later married, and gained custody of her sons in 2012. In 2015, she reported the rape and incest to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department and the Sheriff pressed charges, but a Grand Jury found her uncle innocent.

On December 21, 2017, in DeKalb County District Court, Judge Steven Whitmire awarded the uncle three days of unsupervised visits during the holidays.

Kiessling notes Alabama is one of seven states along with Maryland, Mississippi, Minnesota, North Dakota, Wyoming and New Mexico, which has no law providing for the termination of parental rights of rapists.

Kiessling concludes:

As someone conceived in rape myself, I can tell you that I would not have wanted the rapist to be anywhere near me growing up! Our global network of rape survivor mothers and those conceived in rape is now nearly 550 strong, and we’ve seen this issue come up quite a bit. These mothers and their children deserve to be protected. Won’t you help
