NOW NEWSWEEK LABELS TRUMP AS 'HATE GROUP'
Exclusive: Joseph Farah explains why once-great news magazine is great no more
On the heels of comparing President Trump to cult murderer Charles Manson two weeks ago, the latest edition characterizes him in a headline as “basically a hate group all by himself under FBI definition.”
While the Manson comparison was dropped by the magazine days later, the following editor’s note explained why: “An earlier version of this story did not meet Newsweek’s editorial standards and has been revised accordingly.”
But, only two editions later, that didn’t stop the once highly regarded news weekly from committing another explosively dangerous smear of the president of the United States – one for which a Secret Service investigation is warranted.
Written by Warren Sit, the article doesn’t beat around the bush: “Donald Trump is a one-man hate group.”
“If the president were an organization instead of an individual, it would not be a big stretch to define him as a ‘hate group’ under the FBI’s simple definition: ‘an organization whose primary purpose is to promote animosity, hostility, and malice against persons of or with a race, religion, disability, sexual orientation, ethnicity, gender, or gender identity which differs from that of the members or the organization.'”
“Now, of course, Donald John Trump’s ‘primary purpose’ isn’t to advocate for hate and violence. But after that qualifying phrase, Trump pretty much checks off every box in the FBI’s definition,” Sit wrote.
This isn’t just bad journalism or “fake news.” It’s akin to shouting fire in a crowded theater when there is no fire. Worse, it’s incitement to violence against the U.S. president.
If the Manson-Trump comparison actually violated Newsweek’s standards, we can only assume the editors deemed the content not inflammatory enough.
Noteworthy was the lack of any credible sourcing for the claims against Trump.
The only interview included in the piece to bolster the reporter’s opinion was with Heidi Beirich of the Southern Poverty Law Center, which previously named Dr. Ben Carson a “hater” before reluctantly withdrawing the classification. In the interest of full disclosure (and a note of pride), I have frequently been labeled the same way by the group that inspired an armed attack on the Family Research Council as well as the armed attack on Republican members of Congress practicing softball in the nation’s capital.
The SPLC is not just recklessly irresponsible, it actually is a bona fide hate group itself by the definition of the FBI – and that’s not hyperbole.
For those who have been around for awhile, I guess the name Newsweek still holds some fascination and stature.
It should not. This is not your mother’s Newsweek.
Newsweek was founded in 1933 by Thomas J.C. Martin, a former foreign editor at Time magazine, It was first published on Feb. 17 of that year. In 1961, Newsweek was bought by the Washington Post Company and by 2007, claimed a worldwide circulation of 4 million.
But beginning in 2007, hard times hit the liberal magazine. Its revenue dropped 38 percent 2007 and 2009. By 2010, it was sold for one dollar – and I don’t mean one copy was sold at that price. I mean the entire company and all of its assets and liabilities to audio pioneer Sidney Harman, undersecretary of the Department of Commerce in Jimmy Carter’s administration and the husband of former Democratic Rep. Jane Harman.
In November 2010, Newsweek merged with the adroitly named leftist website the Daily Beast. The merger was a financial disaster and resulted in the abandonment of its print edition two years later. It was then acquired at an undisclosed price, but presumably now for less than one dollar (but maybe not because the purchase did not include the Daily Beast), by IBT Media, which relaunched a print edition in 2014. (To tell you the truth, I cannot even determine whether Newsweek still maintains a print edition. Maybe you can tell me.)
Among the assertions Newsweek makes to justify the ridiculous claim that Trump is a racist and sexist hater are the following:
“Trump continually wages public feuds with people of color.”
“He appointed then-Senator Jeff Sessions as attorney general.”
“Trump may not routinely target disabled people but he famously mocked disabled New York Times reporter Serge Kovaleski during a campaign speech, even pantomiming the body movements of Kovaleski as a result of the congenital joint condition arthrogryposis.”
“He became the first sitting president to speak at the Family Research Council, an organization the Southern Poverty Law Center designated an anti-LGBTQ hate group,” – the very group that was targeted for armed attack in which a black security guard was injured. The intent of the attacker who admitted he was inspired by the SPLC’s designation of the group was to kill all the staff in its Washington headquarters and stuff their mouths with Chick-fil-A sandwiches.
“Trump signed an executive order prohibiting transgender people from serving in the military.”

My comments: Newsweek is representative of the LEFT's apoplectic response to President Trump's presidential win. They are part of the godless, Socialist, Secular Humanist CABAL.
