CHRIST, DESPISED BY MEN

Who has believed our message

And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?

He [Christ] grew up before Him [Father God]

Like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground.

[The dry ground of unbelief and sin-sickness]

He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to Him,

Nothing in His appearance that we should desire Him.

He was Despised and Rejected by men

[as He is today, except for those who belong to HIm],

A man of Sorrows, and familiar with Suffering.

Like one from whom men Hide their Faces

He was Despised,

And we [the people of God;

The Pharisees and Sadducees of yesterday and today]

Esteemed Him not

[Further, today, more than two-thirds of humanity].

Esteem Him not].

(Isaiah 53:1-3)

Yet out of every Generation

God Almighty, the Evangelist,

Has Gathered those who belong to Him;

Those who would Believe

And put their Faith, Hope and Trust in Him.

It is this Despised Man,

Who will soon return to Rule the World

With an Iron Scepter

For a Thousand Years,

Along with all of those who belong to Him.
