CRISIS & DISASTER RESPONSE

Irma Batters Florida, Relief Flights Continue to Caribbean

URGENT-Help Needed For Hurricane Irma Victims.

Dear Friend

A Samaritan's Purse disaster relief team left North Carolina at 4 a.m. Monday headed for the devastated southwestern coast of Florida. Millions are without power, thousands are still huddled in shelters, and early reports indicate hundreds of homes are underwater.

Our staff and volunteers will be going into this disaster zone to help hurting families in the Name of Jesus Christ. There are trees to cut, roofs to cover, and homes to mud out. People who've lost so much need hope, and the only hope that lasts is found in the Gospel.

Hurricane Irma Destruction

The Caribbean took the brunt of Irma as it roared across islands as a deadly Category 5 storm, one of the strongest in history. Our DC-8 cargo plane has already made multiple trips to deliver relief to the hard-hit island of St. Martin, and more food, water purification units, hygiene kits, blankets, and shelter plastic are on the way. We've also flown nearly 30 staff members there who will distribute these emergency supplies to thousands of desperate families. Additional emergency airlifts will be headed to other storm-ravaged islands in the coming days.

Please pray for the people of Florida and the Caribbean as they begin recovering from this monster storm. Over the next weeks our teams will continue to relieve suffering and point people to the Lord Jesus Christ who says “in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

May God bless you,
