GOD HAS GIVEN US A NEST

Made for Nesting
Karen Pourbabee

“Like a bird that wanders from its nest is a man who wanders from his place.” Proverbs 27:8 NKJV

Have you ever observed a baby bird who has left his nest, struggling to get back in? The poor nestling is fretting in a foreign world and is desperate to return to the comfort of his home. There he is fed by his parents and supported during his maturing process.

God has created a nest for each of us, not a geographical location, but our place in God, in the body of Christ. “…God has placed the members, each one of them, in the body, just as He desired.” (1 Corinthians 12:18) We will never really flourish until we find that place. We must snuggle up in our God-given nests and let the Lord feed us and mature us.

The Lord saves us out of the world and beckons us to our nest.

For we have not only been saved, but called. We are saved to a calling.

“[God] who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity.” (2 Timothy 1:9)

Our calling was set from all eternity; something pretty important to discover. A place to seek after. We will remain unfulfilled until we find it. Our destiny will be on hold. God waits for us to find our nest.

“…he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it shall be opened.” (Mathew 7:7)

Lord, whisk me away to my nest. Let me rest in the shadow of Your wings, at home in the place You have created for me. Amen.
