Those who hold to a traditional, Biblical ethic of gender and sexuality face enormous pressure in this day and age to conform to the new cultural standard of normalcy—a standard that ignores the biological, physical realities of gender and sexuality and favors gender “self-identity.”
This rejection of biological reality is a clear act of rebellion against our God who created humans male and female. While we must treat those who struggle with gender identity issues with kindness and compassion, recognizing that they need repentance and healing, we must not hesitate to affirm the truth of God’s Word—and recognize that it is not “hatred” to do so, despite the culture’s view to the contrary.
Not only is this view morally questionable, but it is dangerous. Just a few years ago, it would have been impossible to imagine that a man could gain access to a woman’s restroom merely by saying he “felt” he was a female, but in today’s cultural climate, such acts are not only tolerated but celebrated—even at the possible risk to our children.
For instance, the Obama administration used the Title IX Education Mandates to require schools to allow transgendered students to use the restroom or locker room of their choice.
The Trump administration rescinded that directive last February. However, now Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos is under intense pressure to give transgender students “special protections.”
By joining together, we can show those in our government that we intend to do what we can to protect our children from this dangerous thinking.
