TAKE ME TO HOLY PLACES

Take Me to Holy Places - Karen Pourbabaee

“This suffering is all part of the work God gave you. Christ, who suffered for you, is your example. Follow in His steps.” 1 Peter 2:21 LB

Mountains have been considered holy places in Scripture. Places to meet God. Places of revelation. Places of transformation. The Mount of Transfiguration was one such place. It was at this holy place that Jesus went to pray, along with Peter, James, and John.

And while He prayed, He was transfigured; the word comes from the Greek metamorphoo meaning a change on the outside which comes from within.

Jesus was revealed in His intended ultimate glory. This Transfiguration event was prophetic, revealing the outcome of the Cross. It inseparably linked suffering with glory, the crowning with glory of the perfect human life of Jesus.

It was a spectacular visual lesson: suffering brings about transformation. Here, the Cross of Jesus was confirmed before His disciples; they had to accept His physical death. But now they also knew His glorification and final victory over death.

Our lives are to be a journey in His footsteps.

Therefore, we must take up our cross. We must follow Jesus, all the way up the mountains in life.

“…If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily and follow Me.” Luke 9:23 NAB

If we are following the Lord, our crosses will transform us. If we are following Jesus, our crosses are promised. Our suffering is all part of the work God gives us. But our transformation follows.

Take me to holy places, O Lord. Walk beside me as I carry the cross You gave me. You have suffered for me. I will follow in Your steps. Amen
