WHAT WE CAN DO FOR GOD

Waiting for the “Gideon” Experience? - Emmanuella Ellis

The Lord looked at him and said, “Go in this your strength and deliver Israel from the hand of Midian. Have I not sent you?”
Judges 6:14 NASB

We imagine God coming to us to ask that we do something great which would put us in the limelight and thus wait for this experience. However, on a daily basis, HE chooses us to do countless things which we ignore because they are not life changing moments from our perspective.

We live in a world filled with people, some of which are children of God and thus are family. If God wants to send someone to help another child of HIS, who would HE send?

HE will obviously send us to go and assist, encourage and help others fight certain battles. But these are not the great things we are expecting God to use us to accomplish and therefore we ignore those tasks.

We easily forget that it is our faithfulness in the little things through which God entrusts to us much greater tasks.
We miss the “Gideon experience” everyday without realising it. It could just be aiding a helpless friend, offering a meal, running an errand for one in need, praying for a friend, sacrificing time, energy and money. It’s the little things as we would call them but they are very important to God and those on the receiving end.

Our selfishness and wrong perspectives will cause us to disobey God and miss great opportunities to serve HIM. Can God count on us?
