LET GO OF THE DEAD HEADS

Let Go of Those Dead Heads
Jeanie Hannah

I have rose bushes in my garden. They are established and beautiful, but with each set of blooms comes the dead heads.

The dead heads are what is left after the beautiful flowers play out. At this point, the plants will continue to grow, but the blooms will be very few.

To produce abundant flowers, the dead heads must be pruned away so the plant's energy can focus on blooming. I am always amazed at how quickly the plant fills with blooms after the pruning.

Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. John 15:2 (KJV)
I am in awe of God and His creation.

He shows us even in nature that what is past must be laid aside. The simple example of pruning speaks to me, telling me we must let go of unproductive things if we are to produce much fruit.

If we are walking around full of dead heads, our energy is squandered on unfruitful things, and our relationship with God is impaired. Past hurts, offenses and bad habits all hinder God’s fruit in our lives and must be pruned if we are to produce abundant fruit.

Jeanie’s writing comes from her relationship with God. It is a gift from God that she uses to bring Him honor and glory as she strives to share the good news of salvation.
