Yesterday, as one of his final acts as President, Obama undermined his secretary of defense by commuting convicted traitor Chelsea Manning's sentence.
Three years ago, Manning was sentenced to 35 years in prison for stealing and leaking 750,000 pages of classified documents and videos to WikiLeaks.
It is absolutely unconscionable for President Obama to allow a confirmed traitor, who was convicted of 20 out of 22 charges, to go free.
If you agree that Chelsea (formerly Bradley) Manning caused incalculable damage to the United States and should be facing the death penalty, not freedom, please sign the petition.
Obama's disgraceful decision is a slap in the face to the intelligence community, the justice system, and the military. What's more, Manning's commuted sentence sends a dangerous message that acts of treason will be treated with leniency.
If you agree that Obama has abused the power of the presidency by commuting the convicted traitor Manning's sentence, I urge you to join me in expressing your outrage by signing the petition.
Individuals who commit acts of treason should be punished to the full extent of the law, and should never be granted leniency at the expense of our national security.
For America,
John Bolton
Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations
