TILL WE ALL COME TO THE UNITY OF THE FAITH

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE: “Till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ” (Ephesians 4:13). DAILY FIRE The oil of the Holy Spirit flowing in my life enables me to walk in unity with my brothers and sisters in Christ. The Bible uses a very striking illustration for the principle of unity: oil! Oil in Scripture always represents the working of the Holy Spirit, whether it is about oil in lamps, anointing oil, cosmetic oil, or perfumed oil. The idea originates from Psalms: “How good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head” (Psalm 133:1–2). This was referring to the ceremony of pouring special perfumed oil upon the head of the high priest of Israel. Why is unity like oil? Because the Holy Spirit is oil, and He brings unity. Unity through the oil of the Spirit poured upon us is like the oil poured on the head in Psalm 133: "It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down on the beard… of Aaron, running down on the edge of his garments.
